In terms of how they sound, what you find easier, etc.
It's common knowledge electric guitars are much easier to play than acoustic guitars. It's a lot harder to make an acoustic solo than electric, however, I think there is a certain level of skill one can achieve with an acoustic that although much more difficult to play, will aquire a sound unique to acoustics than some people will enjoy more.
For example, the hollow sound you get from hitting your kuckles on the acoustic, cannot be achieved on electric. One of the most outstanding songs I've heard with acoustic guitar (besides classical) is Yesterday, by the Beatles. It sounds incredible (though I don't think it's super difficult to play, difficult to create is what I'm getting at) to me. As far as classical songs on guitar, those are incredibly difficult to play, lucky for you, I can give you the link to several preformed by one of the best guitarists I've ever heard, Chris Broderick.

On the other hand, almost everything on electric guitar sounds good to me. No matter how simple and easy, I love the sound of those solo amps. It's fun for me to listen to someone just messing around on the electric guitar (or to do it myself). There are a lot of really talented and difficult to play tunes on electric guitars (as demonstrated by Chris Broderick's solos in Jag Panzer songs), however, they are rare, as easier ones can sound nearly as good.
There's not a lot of acoustic guitars in music today (I find), however when I hear them it's always refreshing. So, maybe it's my appreciation for their rarity, but I prefer acoustic over electric sound. I can't say which I'd rather play, I havn't played long enough. But acoustics don't require outlets and are less expensive =)
So yeah, what do you think? Please explain.
