It's snake. THe Outfit, the links to Otacaon, even the teaser trailer showed the main character to be Solid Snake.

Also MGS4 will be the last installment with Hideo on the team: Link I don't suspect a MGS5 but all great things have to end .
Can't wait for MGS4.

I looked at the picture and threw up. It looks like some kind of joke. I dont believe that this is MGS4.

I saw another trailer of sorts, even if it was on G4 (no one kill me), and Snake looked like Snake, which is the same for every game he's been in. So don't worry, this article seems false. He won't look old at all.

What makes you say it's false? It's not. The creator of MGS made that trailer and releasing that trailer, it's on IGN and Gamespot and everywhere, it's real, he's going to be old.
If you knew anything about MGS you'd know in MGS3 that was Big Boss not Solid Snake from MGS2, well sort of. Big Boss was cloned a few times Solid Snake just happened to look like him, also "Snake" isn't a name, it's a code name so having a Solid Snake in the 60s and a Solid Snake the same age in the 2000s is quiet possible.

It's just so weird how they would commision Snake, even though he looks old. I'd think he would retire by now and make love to Maril.

Those pictures look plastic in a sense, not realistic. Graphics don't really do it for me, since you can have ones that look amazing like Doom 3, but when you play, there's no depth at all.

I don't particularly like the MG style of mixing realistic backgrounds with supernatural events, but at least the plots have been written in lots of detail.

Lol @ Snake's mustache.. he is getting old.. but all things have to end.. I cant wait for the release though.. and some better screens..

I was watching the first minute of it and damn was it nice. Not only does it look good, but IT USES IRONSIGHTS (/sex)! Yes, no crosshairs, but ironsights that people use in REAL life.

Then I saw Snake and... eh. I thought he would have died of lung cancer by now. He's turning into a pirate with that patch and the bandana that is still on his head.

That mech robot with legs was oddly... sexy.

The way they use the same letters (FPS) to make phrases is getting annoying. First Twin Snakes, now this... bleh.

So I thought the first person part was how FPS games SHOULD BE DONE with ironsights. I just don't like how 1 man, Snake can take down an army.

He looks quite old... And as you know old people arn't that cool in video games.

WHAT? Snake is never ment to 'take down an army'. His missions is always infiltrate and AVOID the enemies while completing his mission objectives. Don't even come here and comment about a game you wont ever get. And you better not say you will because you never even completed the first Metal Gear Solid, why the hell would you play the 4th?

I don't even see how you CAN take down an entire army, the game is pretty hard as it is without having to get into firefights every 2 minutes.

I think he'd be in good shape, years of working out and having muscle and eating right (Let's not forget SMOKING!!) should keep him in healthly form . Plus Gray hair doesn't mean unhealthy, look at George Clooney!

Nobody 'commisions' Snake after MGS1. Because after that he's a freelancer partnered with Otacon in an anti Metal Gear effort (you find out the specs for Metal Gear were sold to many countries around the world). If you mean Meryl (not Maril), then why would he make love to a corpse? The official story is that she died in MGS1, and Snake escaped with Otacon.

It sounds like Snake is always saying he 'quit' but when he gets back on the battlefield its like he's a smoker again. Or he probably says he quits because he wants people off his back about it. Or it could be something crazier like he's a 'social' smoker but instead of 'social' its 'battlefield'.

Yeah, he's always a smoker. The cigarettes/cigars are always useful in the games though. In MGS1/2 you use them to see trip lasers and other stuff (thermal what? ). In MGS3 you use them to burn off leeches or see your way through the cave before you find the tourch.

My respect for Chu has grown now that I realize he's a MGS fan.
It looks good to me, the trailer was really clever with the FPS fake out, I love it!

The official ending of Metal Gear Solid had Meryl dying and Emerich living, this much is official.

Who that character is I can't say anymore than you can. But do notice the fact that characters drawn and characters in the game usually look different. The pictoral representations always look different than the actual game characters. That character could be related to her, in some way, or not. If it is we might get more information as to what her true identity is. Because in the game you find out she never was the Colonels daughter or grand-daughter or whatever they said she was. And if you don't remember that, then do remember that the colonel is actually an AI and not a real person.

What I meant by army is that in the MGS games, or at least from what I saw, Snake takes down or at least, you are able to kill dozens of soldiers. Maybe not in an instant, but throughout the course of the game.

You never said or implied that. And why wouldn't he be able to take down dozens of soldiers throughout the entire game? That doesn't seem impossible to me. Once again you must also realize this game isn't going for realism. You have a health bar for crissakes.


You could be right, Meryl could still be alive. But the thing is of the two possible endings in MGS1 one resulted in Meryl dying and the other implied that Otacon died. So until I see proof otherwise (and some random person writing it in a FAQ is not proof) then I'm convinced she's dead.

It's your opinion that 12 people is an army? Now you're confusing me.

I've never even heard of "Natasha's book" and I'm still not going to listen to what random person #1 says - for all I know he may have read it wrong. But after playing MGS2 and finding out that Otacon is alive (when Meryl DIES in the ending that Otacon lives in MGS1) I naturally think that Meryl is dead.
