I saw a video today on the "liberal biased" news of an officer beating a man in the face while being held down by three other cops. The kicker is, he was handcuffed. I am currently searching for more information on the subject, but can not find anything as of yet on the specific incident. When questioned, the officer tried to justify his acts by saying the man spit on him, and made racial comments. Ok, I can understand being upset about the spit and the comments, but even after the the release of aggression, the cop assaulted the prisoner when he was being escorted to the car.
This display of power over the common man is rediculous, no one deserves to be treated this way. As far as Im concerned, cops have it easy. They get discounts from stores just for being in uniform. They are, at times, above the law. My cousin and his friends were arrested when a cop found drugs in their car. His dad is a cop. In the end, he wasnt arrested, only taken to the station and than later picked up by his dad. The other kids were charged with possesion and such. This is rediculous.
People may rebutt with "They put their life on the line!". To this I say eat me. I live in a suburb and the hardest thing they deal with on a daily basis is an inspection expiration. They even sign up for it, so anything they get is, inherintly their fault. This logic is often looked on upon as heartless and rediculous, but as far as I am concerned, it only reflects policeman in general.
This isnt to say their are NO good cops. I have known a few in my short time on this earth. All I am saying is, their NEEDS to be a crack down on police brutality and more checks and balances on their power. Disagree? Tell me.
