One of my nerdly friends sent me a file on how to get into DOS mode from a 'Windows Protected mode' computer.
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the content of the file, so I'll say this; The process involves 'COMMAND.COM' and 'WINHELP.EXE'
Just wondering if this is real, and if it works.
Windows protected computer? "Protected" and "Windows" do not belong in the same sentence.
Start > Run > "Cmd" or "Command" > OK
WINHELP.EXE is the windows help program
COMMAND.COM is the program that handles msdos commands
It is possible to access through msdos to a computer that has security holes. However access a computer that has windows updates, correctly configured and with a firewall is very hard.
