It is right, you ask the liar (say the wrong path is on the right), he replies that the truth person would say it's the path on the right(he's lying)
The truth person would say the liar would say the one on the left, as it is the wrong path.

So you take the one on the left.

Nope.

Then at least tell me, seeings how I explained myself and it makes sense.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Gigins on 2005-09-24 at 15:43:01
It's correct. way 1 - right way 2 - wrong

Question: Which way the other would say is correct.

Ask any of them

If you ask liar, He says that other would say way 2(he lies, otherwise he would say true)

If ask other, He says that liar would say way 2.

So you have to go way 1.

Well, Umm..No..Yourwrong DEAD, There is a specific type of question..thingy
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MapUnprotector on 2005-09-24 at 15:59:23
One problem is is that the liar doesn't have to choose between the two roads.

He could point to ANYWHERE in space. Hell, he could point upwards. tongue.gif

And therefore the truth telling person wouldn't really be able to know for sure what exactly the liar could say.

It's DAYTIME, GG THX.

Riddles are always fun.

I always loved puzzles like these, there are books and stuff just with questions like these, I've seen many of them.

Then screw you and your "riddle". I have seen this riddle a lot and I perfectly know that this answer is correct. And I made example that it is correct so it just is. Please don't ask riddles hoping to get answer exactly you want.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MapUnprotector on 2005-09-24 at 16:01:14
The question itself makes it I believe impossible to get a correct answer.

Unless you make some assumptions that they only have to choose between 2 ways and whatever.

And a liar could even say, "I don't know" to any question.

Ask the liar:

"Is this my right hand?" *move your right hand*

That is the correct answer. Shut up, you know it smile.gif

ok.. heres one.

What starts with "E", ends with "E", and has one letter in it?
(it is not E.)

There are 2 ways. I ask which WAY is correct. Pointing at space is not a WAY.

You can answer it, its quite simple, kirbycode knows it but he's not gonna give iy away

OMG look at my post man. If I ask that question I get which way is wrong so I know which is right. SO THIS ANSWER IS CORRECT.

Come on this riddle is so common. I even once saw it in yo-gi-oh anime.

If Kow's answer is wrong, then describe a scenario in which his question wouldn't allow you to decide which way to go.

As for Devilesk, true, he could give any direction, but that just means that you need to refine the question to be specific about which path, as said by whoever before.

Here's a better version:
There are two roads, one to paradise, one to Hell. There's a man at the fork, and you can ask him one question which he must answer. He will either always tell the truth or always tell a lie. What do you ask him, and how do you use that answer to figure which road to go on to reach paradise?

If you are dealing with a LIAR, he can say whatever he wants.

You ask to a liar to point to a WAY, he can lie and not point to a way. closedeyes.gif

... it doesn't tell you which way to go. And you can only ask one question, so if that's it then you are screwed.

One thing...He have to lie and so he can't point to right way. As I said before this riddle is common. Toa if you post common riddle and don't change it a bid then the correct answer doesn't change either. And I/cow posted the correct answer. I don't need your minerals but you could just be less JEW...

It can fit as many letters as would fit, because it's an envelope!

I Googled the entire question in the first topic, and guess what I found...
The exact same question!

Okay, Redefining my answer.

Previous: He asks 'What would the other say is the way to my destination?'

Refined: He asks 'What would the other say is the correct path, right or left, to my destination?'

3RD RIDDLE:

Suppose you want to send in the mail a valuable object to a friend. You have a box which is big enough to hold the object. The box has a locking ring which is large enough to have a lock attached and you have several locks with keys. However, your friend does not have the key to any lock that you have. You cannot send the key in an unlocked box since it may be stolen or copied. How do you send the valuable object, locked, to your friend - so it may be opened by your friend?

Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kow on 2005-09-24 at 16:44:20
You put a combination lock on it and tell your friend the combination.
