First and foremost, understand you're my subordinates. If I catch you backstabbing me in a decision, watch out for a sniper shot.

Clarifications on the approval policies:

QUOTE
- Maps must have a decent description.  Think of the size, tileset, players, gameplay, features, game modes, etc.  Take them all into account.
- No rigged maps (rigged, meaning any number of units or players which majorly unbalence gameplay which results in a win situation. There are some unbalenced games out there, but it is okay as long as all players have an equal chance of winning/losing. When in doubt, PM yoshi.
- No money maps or fastest maps (minerals right beside start locations, or resources with > 10000 resource amount, unless being used as a "hotspot" for all players to fight over.
- No fake maps or files (maps that resemble others but in an extremely low quality fashion).
- No insulting maps (maps solely dedicated to insulting people or clans).
- No clan recruitment maps (maps solely dedicated to advertising clans or recruiting people).
- No disfunctional/crashing maps (maps that are non functional, or its only purpose is to crash peoples games)
- No SexyPic maps or anything with similar obscenities ( pornographic maps are not acceptable)

1. This rule was added to stop people from mass submitting. If you see someone submit over 25 files at once and any of them are not their own, mass deny them. We don't need the DLDB spammed.

2. This is a big rule. Unbalanced can be taken to a personal level of scrutiny, but I generally do it like this:

  • Fairly dumb map, easy: APPROVE
  • Scourge as "cheater" in bound map: DENY
  • Very hard bound: APPROVE
  • Rigged player v player map: DENIED

3. Pretty simple. This includes 50,000 non-stacked mineral maps.

4. Yeah, no stolen maps essentially

5. In addition to any clans, this includes any racism. I am very strict with racism. If you see a map with even mild racism, deny it.

6. Self-explanitory

7. Invalid Scenario, Corrupted/Password Protected ZIP, 0 human players, crashing, the like. Also deny anything that appears broken (defense without level spawns, etc.)

8. This is the rule I want you to take very broadly. A decent amount of sexuality in anything, audio, pictures, text, anything, and the mpa is denied. If you have any chance of getting horny in the slightest off it, deny it. Any swear words in any audio, deny it (this includes songs). Allow a small amount of swearing in text, but not too much.

UMS maps are really the only thing I need to clarify rules on, we very rarely deny anything else.

When denying a map... please send the submitter a PM in the following format:

A whole bunch of maps awaiting approval ended up in the "Files in directory but not SQL" section when you click "·Check FTP/MySQL for unused items". I know you said not to bother with that link, but these are legitimate files that I've seen last night and disappeared from Approve/Deny today. It would result in many people wondering why their maps weren't heard from. sad.gif

Yeah, that is weird, it was empty before. Its about damn time it realized something was wrong with Uberena and Armored Core... Anyway, I dunno what to do about this, to be honest. I suppose I can reupload my own maps to the directory that are in the SQL but not the directory. Not much that can be done about the others in the directory but not the SQL. The Featured category is definitely screwed up... I'll worry about this later. My current assumption is the fact that because the directory is so freaken huge its causing problems (there's 4000 or more files in there).

There are two headings. The ones listed under "Files in directory but not SQL" should still be on the server, just not linked to everything else, because it looks like they can be downloaded from that page. Does that make them salvageable?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2005-09-29 at 21:40:21
Well, you'd basically have to download them and resubmit them, unless there's some ways to create new entries out of the files.

MAJOR BUG: Using the single approve feature for a map raises your post count by 1.

For integrity's sake, use Mass Approve.

That's a bug? I thought it was a feature wink.gif.

But don't worry, it's not like we're going to accept every file for a post.

By the way, that "BALETE?" thing is hilarious when I saw it at first...

It looks like Merrell and Slyence are really keeping the DLDB up to date. I guess I'll find some busy work for myself by checking over the comments people post, fixing broken downloads, and so forth.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Merrell on 2005-09-30 at 19:52:59
I have been doing a lot of everything.

My log I am keeping looks like this:

Maps approved- 13 [13 ums; 0 melee]
Maps deleted-15 [14 ums; 1 melee]

Mods approved- 0
Mods deleted- 0

Programs/wavs approved- 5 [5 wavs;]
Programs/wavs deleted- 0 [ ]

(then a bunch of reasons down here why I baleted each map)

I am also looking through the comments.

Should I delete comments such as "this map sucks" ?

I deleted one of those yesterday, it seemed like a flame.

I also was looking through the different map sections to make sure they were all in the right place..
Report, edit, etc...Posted by PCFredZ on 2005-09-30 at 20:13:42
Ok, I've found that a lot of the the maps are listed in both "Not in SQL" and "Not in directory", which means they're just not linked together. The easy solution would be to just link the files back, but the easier solution for now may be to just reupload all of them. I've taken up that task myself, as there's not much else for me to do with Merrell and Slyence taking care of the Approvals uber quickly.

1 down, 42 to go. pinch.gif

Thanks for your cooperation,
the SEN Download Database Keeping team

I am wondering if there is anything in this template that is beyond the scope of what I am able to say-- namely, the signature: "the SEN Download Database Keeping team".

I guess you can say its a team. And you sure are on it. Go for it.

I concur.

Do you have a log of who accepted a map?

Someone accepted a money map which was completely messy with mass critters and minerals. (8)Point Desert (192x192) was the name of the map.

Who accepted this? Whoever it was must of never even downloaded it / or never saw the no money maps rule. Someone needs a lecturing..
(I deleted it and sent a deny form PM to the submitter with a link to the thread in the FAQ forum)

*sends sideways glance at slyence*

Yes, Moose has approval logs. I highly doubt it was PCFredZ and I haven't touched the DLDB for weeks - no need to. I fear Slyence is trying to go for the illusion of efficiency rather than the job..
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Merrell on 2005-10-12 at 19:16:38
There wasn't even a screenshot, either...

I haven't seen Sylence on MSN in a long time, I think he blocked me for no reason after that "thread copier" thread was posted (He was probably ashamed)

I have PCFredz and him on my MSN for questioning and such.

I have trillian with aim/msn, DT, do you have any screennames? Or are they private?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2005-10-12 at 19:22:08
I never bothered with IMs. SEN PMs reach me within 12 hours, so no real worry.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by PCFredZ on 2005-10-12 at 20:37:23
Found a problem.

Maps submitted under Tactical Warfare (at least; there may be other categories) end up in the "·Approve/Deny Programs and Sound wavs submitted" section as well.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2005-10-12 at 20:42:12
Only when approving though, it's just a cosmetic bug.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Merrell on 2005-10-14 at 16:33:32
Haha yeah, I noticed that bug for a while now, I asked chui about it on msn, and he said it was there just about forever.. I think it should be simple to fix.

ADDITION:
Okay someone isn't attaching screenshots. I skimmed through a bunch of files with "edit" and it didn't say "A file is currently present"

Also, someone accepted [ALIENS] Final when there was already a [ALIENS] in there, they should have denied and pmed The_effect that he can update his own maps.

Someone isn't doing their job seriously here.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by PCFredZ on 2005-10-14 at 20:29:27
ALIENS must by Slyence.

I might have missed some screens, I'll take a look at my approvals again.

Note to new DLDB keepers: When a file does not have a screenshot, you MUST add one.
