Staredit Network -> Staff Lounge -> DLDB problem

Here's a news item I submitted a while ago. This time I changed the tenses a little to make it seem less like the DLDB is about to go kabloom. tongue.gif

QUOTE
A week ago, the DLDB experienced some problems.

A great number of maps awaiting approval *magically* disappeared from the Approval menu, and end up in a section I will refer to as the WTF pile. Files in the WTF pile are still salvageable: that is, they can be downloaded by me and the other DLDB keepers. However, it appears they have become disconnected from the rest of the site's SQL stuff (I'm not familiar with that personally) and, therefore, no longer have the original Submitter/Creator/Description/Category/Screenshot information along with the maps themselves.

There is one way to know if one of your maps ended up in the WTF pile. If you submitted a map, have not seen it approved, yet did not receive a PM telling you the map was denied, it's EXTREMELY likely your map ended up in the WTF pile. Do not panic; as I stated earlier, they're still there. However, there does not appear to be an easy way to simply fix the database from our end; therefore, it is recommended that you resubmit all maps you believe to have ended up in the WTF pile.

Any suggestions on rephrasing stuff or whatever? I'd like this to be in the News ASAP, because quite a few maps ended up in the WTF pile. It should cover the little errors long enough for us to figure out how to revise the DLDB in the long run.

Probably had something to do with all that server downtime and the interspliced timeouts with kappa.serverseed.com.

Not to mention the manual moving of the entire SEN directory. I strongly suspect that an older version on the SQL database was re-uploaded when SEN switches boxes, but the map files remained.

Maybe instead of telling evreyone to try re-uploading the files... Just post a screenshot of all the files in there.

So if someone had one of those maps there, they can just re-submit it.

DTBK told me to add screenshots to the map submissions.

However, what I don't get is, where do the screenshots actually appear? I added a screenshot for Impossible Vs. Teamwork, but it's not on the DL page. In fact, I don't recally any maps submitted for the last year having screenshots. Didn't Yoshi stop the screenshots function because of the bandwidth it used up?

Screenshots don't show up, but they're in the database (yes they were discontinued for bandwidth reasons). They get reinstated in v5.

And by screenshots I do mean minimap screenshots.

So do we have to still upload them if they don't appear at all?

Yes, the feature will return in V5.

Ok, so what program can I use that will just get the minimap of the map like the old "random screenshot" feature? (I'm guessing that's what the screenshots should look like.)

You want to do the mini map and not the actual map image. Map image will give you a full size picture of it.

I tried doing the minimap image with that thing, and only checked "save to gif" on the other tab, but I don't see a save feature ANYWHERE. Useless program...

Here're the steps for making screenshot:

1. Open program
2. Check the agreement thing
3. Uncheck any image formats / texts you don't want produced
4. Click Map\Create Minimap Image

What he said...

[attachmentid=14430]

I have only JPG selected.

ADDITION:
Oh yeah, you can selected multiple maps that way too. So you can do a lump sum of every single map you are approving (saves time basically).
