Hey, I was planning on getting a new video card for my computer. I'm not the expert in this area so I need to know what I should get. Right now, I have a emachines T3882 desktop computer with an eView 17f3 monitor. I'm also going to upgrade my RAM to 256 MB.

Here is one that I've been looking at. Video Card

Unless you play lots of CS or Doom 3 or other new game, you need no more than that video card.

but you need 512mb of RAM. period.

I have a few questions about graphics cards too:

How much is the advantage of dual graphics cards over single (i.e. are dual 6800 GTs better than one 7800 GTX KO?)

Is it worth $60 to go from a 7800 GTX to a 7800 GTX KO?

I've got a AT Radeon 128MB and it works like a charm. I can play WoW with decent fps except on extremely crowded areas. If you can go for a 256MB or a 512MB I highly suggest that you go for it.

256MB of RAM wont let your video card work to it's full potential. I'd suggest going for 512MB or as I have on this PC, a 256MB+128MB for 384MB which can run WoW quite decently. I'd still go for the 512MB as in CompUSA, it's only about $25 more than the 256.

As for choosing a piece of hardware for your PC, it's best that you consult your computer manufacturer to see if it's compatible with the system.

What everyone said. You can't expect to run anything good smoothly with 256 RAM...

Yeah, I have 256MB of RAM right now (my computer SUCKS), and I can barely run WC3. Then again, I have integrated graphics too.

No wonder I need a new comp tongue.gif

Check your graphics card slot and see if its AGP 8X OR PCI-E 16X.

I got a 9600 ATI 256MB AGP 8X with 768MB of ram!
