Well, the idea came to me earlier today. Seemed alot better in my head. I kinda think the map is ugly personally. But lets see what SEN has to say. Also note, I kinda rushed the mineral placement, along with tring to place a way different then my normal way. So please tell me if theres any major mistakes.[/sub]

Looks good, although personally I don't perfer desert for really anything unless the theme I'm using requires it. Good job, I couldn't notice anything on my monitor. (Note it is really crapy)

I myself am not a fan of symmetry in maps, I don't think it really makes it look like an actual landscape. Other than that the map looks balanced, but hell what do I know, I've had one map said that it was bad and one that was thought to be a joke....

[sub]Perfect Symmetry only seems to look good in Space Maps, and sometimes not at all. In concept, this map is symmetic, but its not perfectly symmetical. And I don't think it looks TOO bad. But I do think its ugly.[/sub]

"Men like to have their rugged terrain, atleast I do." -Yenku
Even though I don't like Yenku I do think that's right.. lol You just don't see natural environments that are symmetrical, because the things that affect the landscapes are so diverse that the chances of some specific formation happening in a landscape is like 1/100000000000000000000000000000000000000... you get the point it keeps going for a very very long time. Mineral symmetry is okay, but I don't like terrain symmetry I think if you can pull it off even unsymmetrical space looks good.

Red has more cliff area next to his min&gas expansion site than the other players. That might not be good because terran players could drop siege tanks and just blast away your workers.

IMO i think the choke points (entrances into your main base) are too wide and big. Because normally terran (and maybe protoss) would have to wall in the early stages of the game.

Hey, you're right about the cliff side by red, but I think that on all the others a tank could fit up there as well just not as easily..

Most professional maps are close to symmetrical or at least of a nice fitting pattern, I think ruggedness is different than symmetry though.
I think that ruggedness is just jagged edges, different colored terrain, and no squares.
Symmetry is the basic shape of the map, which all my maps in fact are symmetrical.

Why don't you like me? Cause I speak the truth? I'll try to be less brutally honest for now on since no one but valug takes advice well.

Now, about the map. Valug = the next trcc? WHO KNOWS!?
(BTW, if you dont know trcc, what i stated above would be a good thing)
You keep on pumping out maps and they seem to be improving. Keep it up. 2 of trcc's maps got into the blizzcon map contest.

Definately fix the cliffs, you cannot even get units up by purps mins.

The choke IS wide, but you can fix that. Or not, and have a new style..

I think most people would have put the gas expo right outside the choke and then another min only towards the middle, but thats your choice, I think its fin the way it is.

Overall I think its a bit to hard for zerg without and expo at the choke, they will be forced to three hatch and go from there.. (which is one of the benefits for having an expo at the choke)

GJ, keep improving.

[sub]Thanks Yenku, ive been waiting for you or one of the other melee regulars to post. Your advice always seem best. Also thanks for the trcc thing, im glad my work is decent for once.

Ill fix the cliffs, I think im going to leave the choke alone, atleast for now. The problem with the nats just outside is that the thin cliffs can make tanks a problem. I made it mainly unbuildable terrian just outside the bases so camping with tanks will not me much of a problem.

Expect an updated verson in a few minutes.[/sub]

Well in response to Yenku's question, I don't like you much, not because you speak the truth, but you say things like "Well if you don't understand that I'm not going to waste my time explaining StarCraft to you," and "In TvsP PROTOSS IS DEAD!" You could soften it up while still getting the point across.

[sub]Map Updated

-Fixed Cliffs
-Made the chokes slightly smaller[/sub]

Are you sure you fixed the cliffs they look the same to me, the cliffs we're talking about are the ones by the expo with gas right?

[sub]Whats wrong with those cliffs? x.X[/sub]
Report, edit, etc...Posted by NerdyTerdy on 2005-11-02 at 21:11:59
Well isn't red's too big because tanks could be placed on those cliffs, but not on the other colors??

2 of Travin's maps, not trcc's maps tongue.gif

but hey, they say that trcc's S ignal map was probably the most preferred and best map of the blizzcon maps.

My mistake, I had forgot who got two in, and I wrongfully assumed it was trcc.

Most of those things are considered common sense here, and pretty much any basic LT b.netter could figure it out :/
Report, edit, etc...Posted by NerdyTerdy on 2005-11-05 at 00:52:03
I play LT, and flanking has never been an issue for me, and I've played like Koreans and stuff. I have been beaten, and I have beaten them.. I don't know, maybe that stuff is more instinctual for me, but that I don't realize I do it??
Report, edit, etc...Posted by decafchicken on 2005-11-05 at 15:59:56
Thats because there are no flanking issues on LT. I'm saying that money mappers dont realize about flanking issues. Hence "LT players" Which is what pretty much every pubby plays on bnet :/
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Yenku on 2005-11-05 at 16:37:12
I haven't played LT in a while..
Well I haven't played SC in a while. When I'm done my paper and my friend is back from his paintball tourney (hes divIII paintball player), We are gonna SC it up in here.
Ill try this map, along with Shangri-La..
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Valug on 2005-11-05 at 16:42:24
[sub]Heh, I don't get on SC much either, except im still making these melee maps. I was on PGT today though, won two and lost two. Look back here later today or tomarrow. I got about half a map done that I think looks great so far, im just having trouble to fill the top half of the map so its still used (Its a 2 player map).[/sub]
