I haven't seen a single air RPG in my entire time on bnet! Everything is ground! I am currently making an air rpg game where you have to complete alot of complex and rewarding missions. But in this map I will have to make ALOT of boundaries..
Tell me what you think I should add on, and what you think of the idea!
Features
- Don't like your ship? Trade it in and buy a new one!
- Missions rewards don't include minerals only!
- You can upgrade your ship in any of the following ways... Upgrade Health, Upgrade Weapons, Upgrade Armor, Upgrade Special Weapons, Upgrade Ship Type. Plus more!
- Lots of boundaries keeping you from going off track.
- Realistic.
- You don't have to fly your ship you know.. You can always get out of it and own some on the ground!
- If your ship dies, no worries, you have more chances. In your ship's death your ground unit spawns. You will then have to repair your ship.
- Fully changeable ground form.
- Missions that leave not one square block of the map unused! (exageration!)
- Storyline with many twists.
- Lots of enemies to kill.
- Fully chooseable arena where you can fight enemies for training.
- And lots more!

So what do you guys think?
sweet sweet sounds perfect if you can just make it

seems like its gonna take a long time...
piarate wars or w/e that map was uses a nice ship system...
i was thining of making a map where 1 is mother ship and other can enter / exit ship however, the only thing was.. short on players

wont be that fun...
but this sounds awsome

Sounds similar to Space Pirate RPG. The features look very good, how are you going to handle spawning his unit if it's over unplacable terrain?
BoyScout: Maybe I can make a custom ability where you can call the mother ship.
Ultimo: That's a very good question.. Maybe I should make the ground units spawn back at the base...
Thanks for the input.
Please post more

.
maybe when your ship dies you turn into something else and have to go all the way back... or call for the mother ship lol haha

thats funny call for the mother ship lol...
Maybe you can be released in a Life Pod.. Yes, that's what I'll do.
Yeah, that's what they did in Space Pirates RPG. You got a "chicken pod" which was the slow overlord, and basically, very weak and very slow, and you had to get back to base to repair.
Basically what I was thinking, but it's going to be just as hard to kill as your normal ship as it will have the same upgrades. And it will be faster..
And I was thinking of having a cash system like the one from 'DBZ All Sagas' so you don't waist a bunch of money.
As of now I am..
[progress]8[/progress] Done.
This and all RPGs in general would be soooo much easier with EUD actions.

I was going to add a thing in WoS3 in which Terran ships can crash but you parachute out (likely to be picked off by other enemy units), but then just scrapped it for, uh... balance issues.
looking good btw nice sig

My sig? The quote or the picture?

I don't think you had your quote up before.
Nice idea, has some good creative features to it. ^_^ how many ships can ya pick from all up? When trading ya old ship in do ya only get 50% or 45% of what its worth back from traders?
\\Moogle
moogle good point and i like 45%
and i mean sig not the quote... lol
when are you going to start one it?
I have already started on it.. So far I have created the starting base, some unit names, and layed out square terrain in all areas needed. Units, terrain, properties, upgrades, triggers.. Still have all those left.
yea i made a map just like what your talking about it had some sweet videos i'll send it to this topic later hopefully for inspiration feel free to check the trigs it isnt protected

Alright, Stryke. By the way, I will use the 50% idea.
The system they used for Fleet command is good. neways, sounds like a great idea,.
Fleet command never played it but sounds interesting

wish you luck on the project

Thank you everybody for your opinions, encouragement, suggestions, and point-outs.

np however, can you give us a update on your feature's now... from all these opinions, encouragement, suggestions, and point-outs.
Well, so far, for barriers they will be refered to as 'Magnetic Fields' that cripple and destroy your ship, so that oughta keep you on track.
Instead of being a ground unit when your ship dies you will have a fast Life Pod to get back to the repair station.
There are going to be custom attacks that you can purchase.
There is now a 'Fuel' system. Your vespene gas is your ship's fuel. You must have fuel to move your ship. If you have no fuel you can go to the store in your life pod and purchase some and your ship can move again. Your lifepod then dies (goes back in ship).
Ground unit attack has been canceled.
You can trade your ship back for 50%.
A mineral-transfer system in which you can donate minerals to your friends in case they want a new ship.
In one mission you and your companions will have to set up defenses in a station, in which it turns into a defense with about 7 or 8 waves.
Any more suggestions?
So like a great map... But try using more orginal ideas...
Would't it be great if there was a RPG with air & ground?
Sounds like a spoof of Space Pirates War... But we'll see (hopefully)
NOTE: Next time post in the appropriate forum!! (Maps in Produuction)
One of my many port ideas (replicating a computer game on an SC map, which I've done with AOE2 and Majesty and attempted with CnC: Generals) is Freelancer, a space action RPG shooter. It would have been perfect if EUD actions were available to give shields to the ships, and would be much harder now without them.
