The Regular Staredit UMS tournment maps are due tomorow by midnight, at the midnight for the judge with the latest timezone (not quite sure who it is.) But anyway, if you're near done rush it. Good luck.

How about this: Midnight EST based on the time of the PM used to send the map in?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by noisuk on 2005-11-09 at 20:42:34
Or just give them the time it currently is at USEast. They can figure out the time difference that way.

What time is it currently @ USEast? Sorry but the one thing I lack at least rudimentary knowledge of is timezone setup. (Probably because I often don't pay attention to time at all.)

Lol, FredZ. Now it is officially the tenth and I'm officially home from school, hopefully we'll be able to judge every map by tomorow afternoon.

Why not just have it at the latest time zone so noone has it end b4 midnight at their time

Because it's superfluous anyway by now.

I have an inquiry or two about the judging (To Syphon, primarily).

On the original post, it mentions that you will be judging terrain/complexity.

About terrain. The map I submitted is installation, and I didn't do anything to the installation that did not add to the map's overall quality, much like everyone didn't back in the day that this map was made- people were focused on making fun games. Would I be at a disadvantage for not using cheesy doodads and overseen effects and for simply even choosing installation?

Now, for complexity. Would you be grading non-complex as good, or complex as good? I had always learned the more complex a map was, if it was harder to learn, that's not a good thing. Mine is an "RPG" (by SC standards; there is no RP), and it is very simple. Will this be a good or bad thing? Also, what will you be grading as complex?

Just a few details I was curious about.. all the other stuff seems pretty laid to me. Overall, I really compliment you on the organization and spirit of this tournament. Good luck judging all the maps!

Complexity is pretty much grading how hard the map is to learn and how well the terrain is worked, for instance a very easy to learn map with nothing but an empty field will get much worse than a map with moderate to learn playing and mazes.

Terrain is just how good the map looks, as in how natural. (This won't be weighted as much in installation ones.)

Can I just submit a map even though I never said I wanted to originally?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Urmom(U) on 2005-11-10 at 23:13:59
Hmm, I might have to submit an unbalanced map because tomorrow was when I was going to fix that but I'm going to be in Boston for the day! Don't worry, I've completed everything else.
