I found it quite easy because I used the Swatch panel in Fireworks.

ADDITION:
QUOTE
Are Ion Discharge attacks continuous or do they come in one fast blast?

They could come either way.

Then both of our works.
Lets have a Ion Discharge contest.
Please dont mind colors, I did my part and I have to do homework.

Or, invert the colors reds invert is blue. I like your last one the best. IT looks more like SC any ways. All make ine now.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Centreri on 2005-11-19 at 16:30:07
The problem with the last one is, if its long range, it wont fit.
If the graphic width keeps increasing it will be 2 wide, so I think that would be good for something else.

Idea #1
Make the Ion Cannon attack not an attack, but an ability.
2 Abilities:
1) Send a powerful burst of Ion Discharge (or something like that). 1 burst, about 100 mana.
2) Send a powerful beam of Ion Discharge (or something like that). Continuous
beam of energy shoots from Ion Cannon. Takes energy like cloak does, but 10 or so times faster.

Idea #2
Make the Ion cannon attack able to miss.
Don't make it an attack/spell that follows the enemy, it just detects where the enemy was and shoots there. If you use the Continuous idea of Ion Discharge then make it so you can control exactly where the beam is going using some advanced memory patching (make is so if u click on an area, the continuous attack slowly moves to target that location.) But remember, if it never misses, terran has a huge advantage. The game will be full of people building 10 Ion Cannons and eliminating all opposition.

Idea #3
Splash is Always nice tongue.gif

The idea of the first ability (1 burst) is displayed in the Battlecruiser attack in my beta mod, Silvercraft, just in case you still don't understand.

P.S. I inverted it, the color is now Teal, not Blue. I had to make some minor changes, and here it is now.
[attachmentid=15372]
It looked boring without red electricity, so I added that in.

I agree with Cnl.Fatso, when I think "Ion", I think blue. tongue.gif

How did you make it sright down the middle like that? I dunno how to make it liek that.

EDIT: Here is the beam that will be shot out. But when it hits the object the beam will flare out at the end. Working on that now.

EDIT: Here is the ending and the beam. Im not good at doing the ending...

EDIT: Them together. All try to fix the top one.

EDIT: Better?

Lol
I said all that, and all you could comment was

*Silver-Dragon is sad*

Am I that bad a speaker? I did post a blue one afterwards.

What? Sright down the middle?
I drew it that way..
Not bad, Pauper.
But I still think electricity is cooler, and your effect is harder to duplicate unless vertical/horizontal. We'll need animations of it coming from maybe more then 16 directions because of the amount of space it has to cover.

The second one doesnt look like a beam hitting a unit..
But if I or someone else recolors it red we can make real volcanic terrain, so that every so often a jet of magma goes out of the ground and damages/kills units.

I like the electricity too.

Anyother graphics i could be working on besides this?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Centreri on 2005-11-19 at 18:10:51
More Ideas:
Of course, we'll have to edit the GRP file of the Ion Cannon as well.. It cannot be facing in one direction and attacking the other.
That I kind of doubt I will be able to do, though if someone does it I can mirror it vertically and horizontally in a flash. I think I'll do best with the spell animations, attacks, etc.
I'd say we need 8/16 bmps for the Ion Cannon. Probably 16.

And yah, pauper, better.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2005-11-19 at 18:35:50
no its 13 graphics per i think. I cant quite remember but i its an odd number.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Voyager7456(MM) on 2005-11-19 at 19:02:19
It's 17, but counting frame 0 that's 18 graphics per unit.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Centreri on 2005-11-19 at 19:29:22
Oh. I thought it was 16 in all. Ok.

How will the Ion Cannon turn? Are we using SC's Ion Cannon graphic?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2005-11-19 at 23:05:36
oh yeah i forgot about that. Were gonna model it exactly after the ion cannon. But change it into a cannon type unit.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Centreri on 2005-11-20 at 09:17:44
I think we will use Sc Ion Cannon graphics, but we'll have to make it into 18 frames facing different directions.
And I think it should turn slowly, not like most units, that just turn around automatically when you order them to move somewhere.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2005-11-20 at 14:14:05
Because of a strange turn of events I will be leaving today instead. Well of course it will. But that still means it needs to be turned into a 3d model(not a hard one at that). And the slow turn thing might be a nice addon wether it can be done or not I know nothing. But we should actually start on the units in the compilation ive done.

I think the turn speed is stored as a flingy or perhaps an iscript.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Voyager7456(MM) on 2005-11-20 at 16:08:39
One of the flingys is Turning Style.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Centreri on 2005-11-20 at 17:33:52
Isn't turning style instant?
Ive never noticed any difference in it.

Will do.
Thank you.
I doubt we'll need 3d as of now, as right now were just making an unofficial expansion. It has to look like the other sc units do, and thats not 3d.

ok
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Dr.Shotgun on 2005-11-21 at 07:45:39
To create 2D units you take angle shots of 3D models.
