You've heard rumors, you've seen us talk, now it's official. Many thanks to DiscipleOfAdun, he has solely authored a new version of MEMGraft compatible with Starcraft 1.13e. This version was done without the source code from SI, and I think we all owe DiscipleOfAdun a big round of thanks for doing this great service to the modding community.

We owe you!

It adds buttons to do commands, creates new commands, makes tech trees for building stuff, adds new abilities to units, etc

an example would be a zergling that can cloak

He's on the SEN-MOD creck programming team. In the event of a patch 1.13f, he'd updated again. At least he better..

He will, as long as the number of offsets doesn't increase(they can decrease fine, but I don't know what new ones would do).

But, I'm hoping to have my own program(see my sig) done by then. It will expand much upon Memgraft, with what is listed added in.

Words cannot convey how I happy I am. So I will leave it with this:

w00t.gif + biggrin.gif = kicking.gif^uberwoot.gif*Five Hundred Million

Anyway... Thank you very much. If I had any knowledge in how to do this I would've loved to help. But, I don't have any. So, thank's a fark load.

I don't think you can patch memgraft, we just update it.

Not that Blizzard cares about it.

Sorry to dissappoint you but I found a huge error already

If you try to play the mod you made it says

"Starcraft was unable to open a required file. If this problem persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling Starcraft using the program "SETUP.EXE" on the Starcraft CD-Rom.

The problem occurred while trying to load a file
Stardat.mpq
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."

Really? Unfortunately, I don't know what is causing that, exactly. How Memgraft works when loading everything wasn't exactly what I'd been looking at. How did you make the patch that did that? Did you go StarGraft->MemGraft, or was it completely MemGraft? And, what changes were in that patch? Did you change the StarDat.mpq line at all?

It never did that to me when I tested it.

it was completely memgraft

I didnt make many changes but heres all the steps I did
  • Create new file
  • Edit overlords # of commands in units tab changing it to 8
  • Create a new button for the build infested terran option
  • Changed infested terrans requirements so it can also be built from overlord
  • Changed stardat, broodat, patch_rt.mpq,s extension so stardat and broodat are loaded from the correct folder instead of C:\ and made it so it loads my modded patch_rt.mpq
  • Saved memgraft patch file (mgp)
  • Saved release
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DiscipleOfAdun on 2005-11-11 at 21:21:10
The problem is when you changed the Stardat and BrooDat strings. You shouldn't ever have to change them. They should just be the name of the mpq, which should be inside your Starcraft folder. Starcraft always will look and load them from the folder you've installed it in. So, if you installed it in C:\Program Files\Starcraft, all the path needs to be in Memgraft is '\StarDat.mpq' or '\BrooDat.mpq', and it will find them on its own. So, try it without changing them. Remeber to put the modded patch_rt.mpq inside your sc folder, and just the name(like the other mpq's) in memgraft.

Next update can you make it so it reads "StarDat->BrooDat->patch_rt->modded mpq->map" like MPQDraft mods do? (makes files smaller and will decrease space used in dldb)

Interesting, you coded from the ground up?

I might could try that with my patcher. I don't think I could do that with Memgraft w/o getting the source code, plus alot more knowledge about how MPQ's are loaded into memory and such.

Nope, just found the offsets.

Hey, I just like Memgraft... Anyway, I do have a request(not for the source code). Could you explain how Memgraft loads the custom\mgpatch.mgp file? I don't quite understand that yet, and I'd like to know what those 6 offsets point to and what the code does.

I was refering to the way the newspost was worded ("This version was done without the source code from SI"), nothing against you, just tell me next time and I could compile it for you saving you alot of hex editing work.

I would have to check the code to load that myself, drop me a line on AIM sometime, I'll check it and try to explain, I dont think DW would mind.

Whenever I select more then 1 type of unit at a time (if they're the same it works) it just crashes in the game (even the units that aren't modified crash it)

the same happens to me biggrin.gif i've decided not to click two units biggrin.gif

Odd... It doesn't do it for me... I tried selecting all sorts of unit combinations, and nothing's crashed so far.
