A long long time ago when the fruits were ripe, the nerdy gamers created newb and noob to be used peacefully, but nowadays people who are l000sers ans b00zers in real life come to battle.net to abuse it and to use it as a anger dropoff. I say, people think n00b, noob, nub, and newb are offensive. I say not, they are mere created words that are not even real words. I say what is your thy opinion about thish?
Well i think noob should be used only to people who are actually noob. or people that suck like noobs. but using it out of its restrictions is just stupid. if you are losing to someone that is obveously better then you and you call him a noob that would make you like a uuber noob. anyway using it out of its restraints is just dumb
I dont use the word noob its more offensive than anything else plus it just makes you sound like an idiot using internet slang

Thats the exact reason why i use it

I dont see how it could be offensive... its like saying that you suck at a game, which you should if ur being called a newb.
Although, it's gotten annoying how people call people newbs just because they dont play the game the same way as some1 else, newb means that your new to the game and suck at it, now it means, "you did one single thing wrong so ur a newb"
That annoys me a lot...
Sometimes when discussing gaming, noob is a perfect word to describe a stupid person who doesn't know how to play the game.
It's like part of a gamers vocabulary now. To me it would just be awkward to say omfg look at that stupid beginner-who-doesn't-know-how-to-play, when you could just say omfg look at that noob.
I'm even tempted to say it aloud in conversation, but it sounds geeky. However, I find it hard to replace.
I think they should be used like this..
Newb = A new person to the game, and who is willing to learn
n00b/noob etc. = A person who just acts like an idiot because he can.
It's used sometimes like that ..but eh.
Guide to Noobs O.o
I never call anyone a noob or newb on any game unless it is to joke around (usually calling friends it)and I don't really mean it. There is no point to state a fact that the guy sucks or is new at a certain thing.
At times, yes. Mostly though, I just try to explain what the game is about..but if the game is something like...Doing objectives and running from enemies and the "n00b" doesn't know what the hell to do, THATS WHERE I CROSS THE LINE.
A n00b to me is someone who's being obnoxious or just plain stupid.
Newbie is a term I use to describe someone who hasn't been playing a game for very long.

Heheh. I call my little brother a n00b all the time.
I'm not really offended by these words, but if I want to be really obnoxious, I use them. I know they're annoying, but that's usually the reason why I use them. I guess I contribute to this "problem." I'm usually not hateful about it though.
i personally love the word noob. it just has that ring to it that makes it sound cool.... NOOB!
anyway that guild to noobs is hilarious
I've always upheld the difference between the two words newb and noob.
I find its just another insult in the video gaming world. Exept now too many people have started to use it in the real world. " I Pwned you like a noob on the math test"
My friend at school uses the word noob/newb so much. He talks about people and go out loud, he was such a newb. Once he was walking down the hall and then went "sstss ahh yeah" (stim) then started walking faster down the hall...I pretended no to know him. But sometimes I tell him to do the stuff.

HAHAHA! Oh my god that's funny.
I do control myself around the general public. I really only use those words verbally to people I play online games with. I said it on a date once, just to see what would happen. I never heard from her again. LOL
LOL
kaboom your friend must be really addicted to games... and cannot distinguish reality from games.. oh yeah this is high quality stuff here

that friend is further down from communication disorder, it is of mental and physical domination from internet gaming.
My school is so nerdy that there was a bregade of kids in my grade whos mission was to beat me in starcraft. They were all mad noobs and i was all 1337 so they created some clan. They never did beat me and boy how i laughed at em the first time tey tried.

He really isn't addicted to the game in fact he hasn't played it in a long time. He just does that to be stupid and then when I say that what he did was so lame he goes "So what? No one saw me anyways" which was a bit true but still...what
if people actually notice? Oh well it is fun to see him do those crazy things.
I use 'n00b' to refer to those fooles who act stupid online because they can, and there are no consequences.
I enjoy helping 'newb's, because it gives me a sense of, well, being nice.
Well, since I don't actually know the person I'm calling noob, I just don't directly say it to them. What's the point of letting them know? I doubt they will improve because of it.
So just privately tell everybody else

I use noob to refer to people who are obviously better than them at a game (IE me.) as noobs because they think our strategy won't work.
I once had a guy going to bat for me going "you don't see the genius of his strategies" Happy days.
but then the person who is calling you newb, will start to insult you and your mom. and yes it gets more annoying. being childish never solves. hear this SEN'ers. if you ever insult another people with their mom, you are a disgrace.

Don't you see the humor in acting extremely immature? If I beat my brother at Super Smash Bros. Melee, I sometimes say "Yeah! I just pwned your mom!" But the funny thing is, we have the same mom. There are times when it is aggravating and inappropriate, but we CANT just be serious all the time. Syphon is a noob, by the way.

Oh my gosh, that's priceless.
My friend does the same thing. He yells "Mach Speed", "Slow-Mo", or "Zoom In" and does the actions like he's playing Viewtiful Joe. We tend to yell "Henshin-a-go-go, Baby!" a lot, too. I sometimes greet people by saying "En Taro Adun", and when I come back from class from the bathroom, I sometimes yell "My business is done! (Invader Zim)"
As for usage of Noob in any form of the word...
My friend and I use the various spellings as different meanings.
Newb/Newbie: A New player to the game.
Noob: A player is doing something stupid, esp. on purpose to make people type many roffles and lmaos.
n00b/nub/nubcakes (Yay BannedScag!)/nubxxorz (Another Banned Moment!): The total retardation of all that is StarCraft, screws up games on purpose to make himself feel better by hurting others, or a person who flames people for no reason whatsoever, or a person who makes your life a living Hell.
