Take a look at them, lemme know what you think as far as setup so far. A few things left to iron out... as well as re-writting the html... again.
I tried going to pure divs to use positioning and such, but for some reason, div's inside divs became their own block elements entirely and screwed with firefox. IE was actually pretty good about the code. I didn't check opera.
After the annoyance, I said fark it and held the undo button for like 1000 characters to get my orginal setup back with the tables... IE didn't display this right from the beginning, but I decided to go with it... until I checked opera. Opera does the same thing as IE with one little difference...
IE takes extra unused pixels and distrubutes them equally between each row in a rowspan. Opera takes all the extra pixels and gives them to the last cell.
Firefox gives the extra pixels to any cell that doesn't have a defined height (the right way).

Really, it looks sexy on firefox...
But I don't want to have seperate skin files for each browser...

I might have to go to the same setup senv4 has because it's simple, although ugly. The idea was to have the row of buttons on the side of the mini profile because that way, if there's a short post, it wouldn't take up so much room. On senv4, if there's a one line post, the post still takes up the whole page. It's kinda sickening.

But anyways... lemme know what you think as far as the information being displayed. IMO, on one hand, it just seems like there's too much data in different places to make it really 'flow'. On the other hand, it looks a bit more organized as far as not shoving data all in one line, only seperated by |'s.

There's a few things missing, namely, a 'go back to forum' button.

You should change the CSS for a closed topic view. That'd be really hot. I was thinking change the black BG for all the posts to a light gray (#212121), and making the text #DEDEDE. If you wanted to go all out, you could make a grayscale button that's not a link, like IPB does. But by all out I mean a grayscale for every button that has to do with posting in that topic (Such as quote, reply to this post, etc). It'd look really nice, but it's also very unnecessary.

Other than that, I like things for the most part.

I like the reason for lockage.

Please give more opinions...
At first, it seemed very weird to me, but it kinda grew on me quickly.

Some notes:
- The icons could be a little better and bigger, but as always, I suck with graphics so they are last priority.
- Firefox throws some space in signatures at random. I DO NOT KNOW WHY. (fixed)
- Text on signatures would be locked to a maximum of default size (10px) and no higher. Text will be locked on gray (to avoid clashing).
- Author name links above text won't clash as bad when colors are added to them.
- IE floats the signature according to divs on the sides... incorrectly of course (those divs AREN'T IN NORMAL FLOW, so normal flow items shouldn't be affected by them) (fixed)
- Something would be thought of for people who have no avatars... it just looks too ugly with it blank like that.

A default avatar. Most forums use those. I remember back in the day it had your avatar and a background image for the space that it didn't use. That works too. ermm.gif

As for the new buttons, I like them.
Just kidding, they suck ass.

Any graphic artists handy...?

but does the layout suck?

QUOTE
the icon in stuff of the E on the page

That makes no sense...

The icon may be initially words because it's standard to provive a text alternate for each image... if the image isn't there, you'd get the text.

BUT how does the layout look? It's different from what I was planning to do...
For one: The post reply/edit/etc buttons are in the same horizantal space as the signature! The signature is bound to be in the middle of screen!
How does it look?

ADDITION:
C'mon... don't be shy. You can tell me it sucks if you think so.

Moose said there were too many 'boxes'. I saw his point and tried altering the post rows so that the signature would be a part of the post. It really didn't look too bad.

Another thing is the desire to change link colors to something other than white...
http://www.staredit.net/1337v5/?forum=10
Check out the forum view... and let me know what you think of yellow links.

ADDITION:
Or... links could be light green...

The yellow links look weird... I was thinking the same thing as you suggested at the end there - light green could be cool.

Yeah, the yellow doens't match anything. Make something else yellow and I guess it'd be okay. I'd stick with some darkish...green...red...something other than yellow color though.

And I like the layout, but please make the images on the side all the same width. It's pretty cool though. Unique...and doesn't suck. Awesome. smile.gif

Just letting you know, Opera works fine.

Why don't we transfer the buttons from v4? The current v5 buttons are... ugly.
Also, where it syas group: Administrators or whatever, can we just change it so it says Administrator?
