BroodKiller has created a new .dat editing program for all you mod-making folks out there. Determined to surpass Arsenal III and Arsenal Zero, he has created DatEdit with more features and less bugs. While the program is still in its alpha stages, closed testing is underway and the program will probably be fully complete soon.

Can I get a direct link to the file it there is one? I went to the other 2 links that were posted and I was not able to find anything that would let me download this file, if there is even a file for download.

It's still in testing. There is no public release yet.
Patience...

I confirm what DoA said (and what was mentioned in the news post by Moose) - the program is undergoing pre-release testing as of now. When all the bugs are fixed, which will take place hopefully soon (within a few days), a public release will be available
What I'd like to say is that the initial release of DatEdit will be a bare DAT editor. No more, no less. There do are different "fancy stuff" planned for this application however, so stay tuned for updates, but the opening release will just cover the most important and basic aspects of DAT editing.
I hope you will like it, -BK

So it is not out to public yet... ok. Sorry, I thought that the testing version was out. Thanks for answer and good luck with finishing this.

The DatEdit testing is a closed procedure, sorry, but that's how I envisaged it. On the other hand, there is very little things that may actually go wrong with it, so I think the public release will come very soon

So why exactly do we have this topic if it isn't done?

I guess that this is going to get people hyped up about the program that should soon be released. That is the best guess I got...

It's functional, but there are some small things that need to be figured out and solved first. At least, that's how I see it.

Actually, I just asked Moose IF he could make such a news post WHEN the program is ready. I guess he maz have misuderstand it a bit...
And the program will be released within a few days I presume. There ain't much to test with it, actually.....

If it's released, hope it becomes a SEN download right after it came out.
Or, I submit it to the downloads, which my be impossible anyways.

DatEdit is a modding tool that edits the .dat files in starcraft (like units.dat)
Edit: sorry about the slow reply

TF is right, DatEdit is a *.DAT file editor. DATs are the major data files used in SC, and via them you can alter many many many different units' properties, starting from statistics, through weapons and graphics (on different levels), to their AI behaviour.
ADDITION: ####UPDATE#### DatEdit Release Candidate v2.0 is ready. I think it will be the one that will become the public releas, so stay tuned boys'n'girls
