Well, there are usually no hidden gems for games... but do you have any games that weren't very successful but were really a great game, or games that are old and forgotten that are still fun to play?
I have a few... Icewind Dale and Icewind Dale II, The "Monster Rancher" franchise... Lord of the relams II... I'm sure I could name more, but every now and then I go on a spree and play these games, they are all fun, but I can ask mostly anybody if they heard of them and they'd usually respond with a no...
Final Fantasy 7, no questions asked.
ADDITION:
Although it may not be old enough to qualify, in which case, Heretic.
A hidden gem for me that probly no one here has heard about is "The Magic of Scherblade" for NES. It was an adventure game that blended some pretty cool stuff such as sidescroll shooting for when you were underwater.
A game I love that never really caught on was Stronghold. It had a cult following but besides that it is never really heard about.
Secret of Evermore, I'm not sure if it was well known or not (probably not) but it was good and had a nice spell system.
[center]I have actual hidden games.
Mac OS X users:
Open Terminal
Type 'emacs', press return, press ESC, type an 'x', type either 'dunnet', 'tetris' or 'doctor'
Dunnet is a text based RPG, tetris is... the classic, and doctor is one of those annoying AI things that asks you a question about your previous responce.
As for great games no one knows about, I have some but I don't even know the names.

Whiplash (Fatal Racing in Europe). Great driving game for PC. Made in 1995.
Dunno if "Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit" is old enough to be called a "Hidden gem", but its a great game thats getting old now

Still impressed of the graphic in that game...

Lord of the relams II
Yes! I always have a spree to go back to that. I'm so dissapointed that there is no story line. You play one level and thats it for single player campaign. And no one is ever on multiplayer.
I would love to play someone so if you are ever back in that spree (yes that's exactly the words I use too) let me know and I'll dig up my cd and play ya. =D
As for my other sprees I'm gonna have to say NES/SNES/N64 games. Everynow and then I'll get an urge to play em.
I rather enjoyed playing Outpost 2 (excellent sci-fi RTS game), and no one has really heard of it. Except maybe around here at SEN when Yoshi and I were trying to get some more players...

I know that game!!!...
HiddenGem: Myst... If you've played this you can relate it took me a month to figure out the first area...
Outpost is an unusual game. I never got the hang of it.
Yeah, it does take a while to get used to balancing your civillian and military needs.
Heretic ehh... Wasn't that like a fps and it was all scary?
Another one, I was a fan of King Quest: the mask of Eternity...
And about lord of the realms, that game is so fun... I just love saying their phrases like MACEMEN ATTACK!!!! and PIKEMEN READY

Aren't those from Stronghold?
Slubberdagullion!
What was from Stronghold?
A game that I have and people(I think)don't now is War of the Ring,a Lord of the Rings game.I can't say too much about it because I have it in spanish.
How the hell did you get that in spanish?

Erm, if I recall, FF7 sold quite well and that is shown by it's still popular presence of today. Notice the new movie and games coming out.
I thought Killer 7, Second Sight, Beyond Good & Evil, Eternal Darkness and Phantasy Star Online Episode III were good games, either for their story or their gameplay.
CONTRA!
You go around my school, ask around, look for Contra gamers, you get 4 or 5.
Contra was fun as hell! Eight-directional firing, 3D-simulated Base levels, beautiful visuals and music.
One Word. ET.
Jay Kay.
I like Final Fantasy 7 and 8. I also like Starcraft.
Thing with SC is that it's still hugely popular with the South Koreans, of which we have a wealth at our school.

Phantasy Star Online III??
The card game?
There's no need to quote the post before you, especially when it has no relevance to your post.
I cant say that I have any hidden gem games, but Tetrisphere was one hell of a good game...
My bad, I forgot to erase the quote.
