A couple weeks ago at night, I was driving on a 2-lane road when I hit a slide-off and went into a ditch and straight into a tree. The car I drove was a 15 year old car, and the airbag failed to come out. Tree limbs came crashing through my windshield and my radiator was pushed up into my motor. A heavy tree branch laid about 6-12 inches away from my chest and I had cuts and scrapes all up my arms from the broken windshield. My car's totaled. I was so pissed off I couldn't believe it, because I work 15 miles away from my house, and I have no way of getting to and from work, so I have to temporarily quit my job (note my activeness on sen). Anyways, looking back on it, if I wasn't wearing my seat belt, I would have been dead for sure. You may laugh and think it's stupid to not wear a seat belt, but is it worth losing your life just because you didn't wear a seat belt?
I know what you mean, seatbelts save lives.
I have learned my own lesson about seat belts. (Friend took a corner way too fast and we rolled.) That was a while ago though.
My nephew survived when I was driving in a free way.

I did had a crash since the car in front of me stopped because he's out of gas.
Its not even that big a deal. Get in the car, put on your seatbelt. At least it doesn't look stupid like wearing helmets. "Click it or Ticket"
I don't care anymore. I could die tomorrow for all I care, I'm ready to go.
But it's a good idea to wear a seat belt. Don't try to be like me.
yes, even if you want to die by driving without a seat belt on, think of the others who might die from you flying through their front window
be considerate and buckle up

hell i want to die but not in a car wreck =/... what if you didnt die but you couldnt walk or talk or anything like that... that would suck..
Yeah I'd rather die than rely on machines to sustain me for the rest of my life.
I would wear a seat belt, and not get any of my body parts tore off, and live an normal life yet again. "I would die rather than to be hurt for few months" Thats gay, especially when your having such a great life. I am anyways.
Well a few months isn't so bad. I'm talking permantly hooked up to a life preserver. Happened to some people and for me I'd say no, pull the plug.
Dude, It ain't that badd... You should see the people who are born to have to be on a life preserver.
That's exactly what I'm talking about. I would not want to live like that. You're saying you'd be okay with not being able to move or talk?
Yeah, and a book saved me too
I was young, about 11 years old and my mum was driving to the shopping center with me, when the traffic lights gave the green a stupid women accelerated her car and 5 seconds later found out she was going the wrong way so she put on her brakes. Then what happened, slam. The front of our car was completly smashed, and her 4WD didnt have a dent. At the time of the impact, I had my head down reading a book, and to that i never got whiplash. But of course, my mum did.
So for me it was lucky, and to avoid getting whiplash at that age was a miracle.
My older brother and sister, as well as two other cousins, were killed in a car wrecks. I'm in no hurry to follow their example. I always buckle up, and insist that everyone riding with me buckles up. My son's car seat is especially secure, I followed all those car seat safety things and such.
Yup, the states didn't make those laws for the heck of it.

wait that looks stupid? no wonder everyone laughs at me when ever Im going down the road j/kI always wear a seat belt. I feel weird without one so wheneven I go in a car I automatically go for it, I don't even remember going "Oh I must reach for a seat belt and buckle it". Just too automatic for me also since my cars are old (will be getting a new one soon), none of them have airbags. But then I never wear a helmet when I bike...
Maybe Wesmic should be preaching to children about Seat Belt Safety and the laws about selt belts. His story is a good example to the little children.
I think it works better if you teach it to adults (although they may not accept it as easily as children) because usually if the adult uses a seat belt, then he/she will tell the children to buckle up as well. If they don't then they usually wont, but teaching both adult and children won't hurt.
I always buckle up when driving a car in America, but when on vacation in russia the car has no seat belts. I must say, its more dangerous, but it is more comfortable. If we did have seat belts, I would have buckled up, though.
Not worth it.
It was really know fact... This narrative really told me something... I always buckle up, but if i was in a crash while i wasnt...
Sum1 I know is in the hospital right now. He was the only one not wearing a seat belt, and he flung out of the car. His skull got cracked and his tailbone broken. He'll most likely live tho...
Oh wow wesmic. It's great to see that you didn't die!
Yeah, seriously seat belts are no doubt one of the most important things even before driving.
I was in a wreck last year or two years ago. If the tires would have popped, I would be dead.
Seatbelts = Pwnage.
