QUOTE
A trademark used for a canned meat product consisting primarily of chopped pork pressed into a loaf.

So my question is, how did this word become what it is in internet culture?
QUOTE
Unsolicited e-mail, often of a commercial nature, sent indiscriminately to multiple mailing lists, individuals, or newsgroups; junk e-mail.

Words are just words, you can't explain why that word is that. Unless it was not originaly what it is now. Spam was probably aways know as that.

That Spam is sorta a spread. You can make it into a spread, or make it useful. That is the same thing for posts. Spread useless junk, or keep it together into one. good slap of meat.

It's because we routinely butcher the english language with new words and terms, because we use language to define our world, and people feel like they have some kind of control over the world when they can control what language they use to define it with.

Makes little sense, but that's just human nature.

Also, do you know you can get sued for using the term 'Xeroxed' for photocopying? Spam isn't the only term whose makers don't want used out of context.

Who cooks it with milk? Anybody? I cook it with milk, makes it nice and plump and juicy.

BUT this isn't a topic about SPAM, this is a topic about spam.gif and spam1.gif .

I would also like to know who coined the term spam as a way to reference asinine messages.
