1)Go start > run type "cmd" to open up a dos console.
2)type in ipconfig. Under your main ethernet card it will list your "Default Gateway" .. something like 192.168.0.1.
This is your Router IP, in a browser window type in http://<gateway ip>
You will be prompted for a password to get into your router configuration. Chances are nobody has changed the password if you are the smartest computer expert in your house

Goto this page:
http://www.phenoelit.de/dpl/dpl.html3) Look up your router model and that will be the default username/password to login as.
4) Locate the port forwarding page on your router. For each router the format of the configuration pages will be different. If you have a linksys like mine you will goto the advanced tab and click on port forwarding. The page will look like this:

6) Read up on port forwarding you need for BitTorrent and forward them to ip of your machine. The IP of your own computer in your internal router network is found from ipconfig which you typed in step #1.
Edit: For bittorrent you need 6881 to 6889 for both UDP and TCP.
7) Press submit & your done
