Staredit Network -> Miscellaneous -> Is There A God
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-05-26 at 15:14:11
Is there a real god? If theres knows god than wot the point of going to church. I mean if there is no god, how did humanity start? If there is no god wot happens to you when you die? If there is no god wot is the point of living? I mean maybe there is no god, maybe hes just a myth someone made up. maybe he's just something needed to help people through things. But if there is a god, and you spend your whole life not believing and you die, wot have you become? Think about that.

Damn that must have been the longest post ive ever made l8tr

You cannot discuss that... Even if there ain't any God, people need to trust into something. I really, really hate to admit it, but we need our Gods to keep us living...

Personally, I think it was some censored.gif who didn't have anything to do of his time, 3000 years ago, and wrote some kind of idealistic story with supernatural beings. It just turned out that other censored.gif s found it and started... Religion...

At least, catholic religion. Don't really know about others.

That's part of the reasoin why i tend in other, more scientific religions.

I believe that yes, there is a God. I am not stating my views on religons or faiths or going to church or any of that until I am otherwise provoked to do so.

I've always felt that the human mind is just a network of electrical impulses in our brains. So when you die, the impulses stop firing, and you're gone.

Humans need the idea of a God to help insure order in society. God gives many people a reason to be "good". Without Him, many people would be overwhelmed by the futility of existence. As an atheist, my strategy has always been to do what my instincts tell me to do: Find something I can do with my life that would make me happy. Whether or not my existence matters, and whether or not I'm going to be punished in the "afterlife", I choose to enjoy my pointless life. Because really, when you think about it, life doesn't have to mean anything for you to enjoy it.

well personally im unsure if there is a god. I believe in one becuase if there is i want to be able to say that i believed when i die.

As shadow said we need something to believe in. becuase its faith that keeps us going. people believe that A god will help them in time of need. Without a god to believe in these people would have no faith and may just give up.

Even though i think we are just evelution.
I will always believe in god. closedeyes.gif

Ya but wot happens to all those memories you have? how did life start itself?
God is basically wot laws are in place for. Without god, we have no one to act like. There would be no difference between evil and good.

I'd hate to think that someone is more powerful than me and can end my life with a thought.

Personally, I think theres religion because the human race is insecure. Believing that someone is with you to make you feel better is what its all about.

Besides, I'm a man of proof. I don't believe stories, I go by facts.

I think there should be an option for agnostics.

I believe the existance of a god or gods is possible, but the likelihood of it being the god of Christianity, or the god(s) of other religions is slim.

Well I think religion is just gonna collapse once we find some decent proof that it's not real.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Nozomu on 2004-05-27 at 02:20:36
But, see, that's the problem. Until we find proof, millions of people will still die for religion. And people won't believe it no matter how much proof exists - the core beliefe of most religions is that you have to have faith. If you have faith, you shall be saved. Proof won't change anything.

I don't believe that much in an afterlife too. Once I die, I expect to be decomposing. Just like the rest of you.

I dont really believe in any one god or one religion because it seems pointless to devote yourself to something you dont nessicarly believe in. I hold respect for each religion, but i dont worship. The only thing i really believe in is riencarnation. That the soul moves continues to live even after the body dies.

I dont belive in any god(s). I see no point, If there was a god and he wanted peace int he world many years ago and still does to this very day. Why would he allow the human race to Invent guns, Why would he allow Pain, Suffering?

Though i Respect other peoples religion, As its there religion. Other than that i dont belive.

I believe in a modified chaos theory: we are not here for a reason and everything is random. Not a very comforting thought, but...oh well.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-05-27 at 15:02:53
we might not have a reason, but how did we get here

I believe in christianity, because its the best religon I have found...thus far. Atheism and Agnosticism never worked for me, because they were a bit too broad for me.

BTW, Have you guys ever heard of Intelligent Design Creationism? its almost an oxymoron, but that's what I believe. It states that God designed us so that we could evolve as time progressed when we needed to.

I used to believe that, but Chaos Theory works for me now.

This has been a topic that many have debated on, and I think that if a God exists who wants the best for his people, then he allows pain, guns, etc. because good would mean nothing without a point of reference.

Happiness is nothing without sadness. As in it wouldn't exist. If you were 'happy' all the time, and never experienced sadness then how would you know that you were happy? You wouldn't know that there were any alternatives to the way that you have always fealt.

This is actually very similar to an article that I wrote on my website, it is the last one I wrote in case you wanted to read it. hell, ill just link to it:

http://emoonline.com/Articles/fullnews.php?id=8

But, anyways, I think that if a god wants his people to be happy then he also has to have them be sad sometimes because it isn't until they are sad that they can appreciate or comprehen happiness.
