I watched Cube...yes...the first one, recently while flipping some channels. Maybe someone could make a game dedicated to that movie. If you haven't seen the movie, you can check it out going to Internet Movie Data Base and search for it.

LoL...the game can be made strictly for the mathematicians so you can plant the traps. Be sure to randomize the rooms so people cant memorize the path.

Well...maybe for the ones who arent mathematicians, maybe you can faintly hint them that the room they will be entering will be a trap or something...

Heh I just felt like posting something...its like a sudden urge I just had. Anyhoo, that is all...

It is a good idea, but its next to impossible to do and w/e came out of would probly be shizty.

I think in the movie they said there were about 1000 rooms? of course, there is absolutely no way you can do that many(after all, you have only 255 locations) and there is the issue of map space and room alignment. remeber each wall has 6 doors, so you would need a way for the player to 'climb' to reach the top door. and for the map to look 'good' each room should be the size of the screen and the fact is, theres not enough room on the map to make a perfect cube while maintaining a high count of rooms.

and if you can't get the cube shape right, theres pretty much no point to the game.

as you can see, even making the rooms themselves(while maintaining good quality) is pretty much impossible.

I'm not gonna even start with the randomization that occurs in the game and the randomization that occurs before the game starts.

Anyone up to the challenge? tongue.gif

Well it doesn't have to be a cube necessarily...you can make like a square room with 4 doors or something...about the randomization...anyone up to the challenge? LOL

I could think of a way to do this. Use mobile grids and rondomized death counts..

Or we could just play The Puzzling.

what do mobile grids have to do with anything?

and if you can't make perfect cubes, you're not staying very true to the movie and the game wouldn't be called The Cube, it would be The Odd-Shaped Rooms that are Supposed to Make a Cube

Heh but make one relatively close to it anyways...just square rooms I guess. There are plenty of SC maps that are based on movies and turned out crap...

very true, but why would you make a map with the knowledge that its gonna be crappy

The map is only crappy when no one plays at all and has given bad comments during ur test maps.

Who knows...it could very well work out...or turn to the dumps. We won't know unless you've tried. smile.gif

You can use mobile grids to place objects all around a room, to truly randomize the whole room.

why wouldn't you just use preplaced-locations?
and recycle them if you have to.
