October 4, 2005 - Robbie Bach, President of Microsoft's Xbox entertainment and devices division, indicated that earlier comments made by Bill Gates that Halo 3 would be available to counter the release of Sony's PlayStation 3 next-generation gaming console were "philosophical" and not to be taken as a literal pledge, according to an interview at InfoWorld.com.
In response to a question regarding comments made in Time Magazine by Bill Gates earlier this year that Halo 3 would be released in time to blunt the launch of the PS3, Bach indicated that his boss was using the next Halo game as a metaphor for the upcoming Xbox 360 titles. According to Bach, "Philosophically, the point Bill was trying to make is that we're not just going to ship and not have great stuff coming up. We don't know when Sony will ship PS3. They've said spring ... What we do know is that the way our portfolio lines up we're going to have great exclusive content. Halo is something we'll ship when it's ready."
In the same interview, Bach revealed that the decision to make the Xbox 360's hard disk drive optional was due to concerns about price sensitivity in the European market. According to Bach, "It's particularly important in Europe where parts of Europe are very price sensitive and the channels where games consoles are sold are predominantly mass merchants which again are very price sensitive... One size doesn't fit all."
I'm guessing that Sony will face a war against Microsoft and Bungie's sales. So...Vote and post your opinion about this article.

I'm sticking with Bungie and Microsoft, because i'm getting a 360. And i'm getting a 360 not for Halo 3, but for the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

From what I heard at E3, Halo 3 and the PS3 are releasing on the same day. I've known this for half a year.

Ps3! I like playstation better than I like the xbox's and ive played the 360 already its not that awsome but neather will the Ps3 probally
I'm definaly sticking with microsoft and bungie since its going to have halo 3 but also its got some great other games on it that aren't on PS3 like Elder Of The Scrolls 4: Oblivion
Uhh, I heard Microsoft was give away Halo 3 to PlayStation 3, they were just being nice.
what the hell? that makes no sense.... some people will buy xbox 360 just to play halo3
Microsoft's and Sony's way to make more Ca-Chingage
Bill Gates went on record saying that Halo 3 will be launched when Ps3 launches, but he doesn't know when Ps3 launchs, and he doesn't know when Halo 3 launchs either, apparently. Since Bungie said it'd be realeased "When it's ready" not when some guy wants it be finished. And no one knows the release date of Halo 3, so saying any of this or guessing any of stuff doesn't mean anything, cause no one really knows.
Well...Yes they do not know when the release of both of them is, but the projected time of the release is around Spring...Which I think is a bit late for Halo 3.
next thing anybody knows there will be like Halo 5 and 6... one of great, two was okay, but if we continue to do this, all this is going to result is more debt for Bungie and Microsoft especially when Xbox 360 was such a bad console...
Mainly all we need is a Halo: Deluxe version. Maybe a Halo movie that will keep the game alive. But I bet there will be a broadway musical on it.

There's only supposed to be 5 Halos, and how, exactly, is the 360 a bad console?
It isn't a bad console, it just had a few problems on its release. There were bugs and gltiches...So Microsoft had to fix them before the Holidays. Which I think they did, but they might not have.
What more can they possibly add to Halo?? Halo 5? Holy shiz!
Halo 5 is like John: Spartan 117 is gonna be like 267 years old and he still has to fight. He would fight the 364 year old Covenant aliens...
I'll go with Microsoft and Bungie like I always have done. I have nothing against Sony but if I ever buy a console, which I never will, it would be Xbox 360.

Because it cloesly resembles a PC, seeing as how the same people who made PCs, make Xboxs.
Yeah there are 5 Halos, don't complain, some how they kept the Final Fantasy and Dynasty Warrior series alive. Also just because the 360 has bugs doesn't make it a bad consle, maybe the fact that they ran out of 360s in a america and have like 10,000 sitting in Japan doesn't make it a bad CONSLE. But a shizty company who should think before doing a world wide release.

Not really. That would be odd. Master Chief is just a super human that can whack you to do death. Are you saying that Master Chief fought for generations like the thousands of Arbiters?
Actually yes that is what I meant. Nah, jsut joking. Maybe a new hero will be born in Halo 3-5 and he would be like a descendent of John.
How would they get a descendant of Masterchief? Cortana? Oh wait.... Keyes. Anyway, I'll stick with Microsoft (Age of Empires and my computer's operating system, and my Xbox), but if the prices for the 360 don't lower, then I'm not gonna buy one. Go Nintendo Revolution!
What happened to that other console... The Nintendo Revolution?
Yeah, I guess it must have died.
Actually, I'd rather not stick with both of them, and go with Nintendo.
Well the topic is about the release of PS3 and Halo 3 comign out the same day or near the same date. I would definitely get the Revolution, but right now it is between Sony and Microsoft.
Let me rephrase my answer then.
I will stick with neither of them, because I don't think any of them will be anything but new graphics.
