Well. I've decided to create a Modding Bible similar to DI's old Editing Bible. But, good folks of SEN, I need your help. If you've got anything you think should go into it, PM it to me. I'm looking for anything you've got! I've begun this on my own, but I don't know everything. Interesting techniques, rarely used ones, I need as much as you can give. The more the better. Questions and concerns will be addressed in this thread.

Oh, a bit about it. Apart from being a Modding Bible, I plan to release it along with SC FireGraft as a sort of guide to the program. And I'm not looking for step by step tutorials, exactly. Sometimes, they are all you can give to show something. The more you help with the bible, the faster both will get done.

Here's a checklist of very generalized things that are uncompleted. You can choose a more indepth part, but this is what I don't have done yet:
  • All .dat files
  • Explain the relationship between units->flingy->sprites->images
  • Everything about Iscript.bin. Tutorials are welcome here...provided they arent' too long.
  • The Graphics, RetroGRP, and palettes
  • .bin dialogs, I've never edited them before...
  • Overlays
  • Gametypes
Partially Complete/I'm doing but might want input:
  • TBL files(about 20%)
  • MPQ's and their data/Basics of the directory stucture(about 80%)
  • Memgraft(SC FireGraft will function almost similar to it, so the information is about the same)(I'm doing)
  • CASM Actions/Requirements.(I'm doing)
If there's something I forgot, type it up and send it to me.

I started on a list of unused Images.dat entries. I'll continue work on it and submit it to you.

i mastered Game graphics ,efficiency knowhow and many use tools and editors wink.gif

Ah, Disciple! This is wonderful. I was about to propose something eerily similar after the New Year, but with such an initiative, I have no choice but to go along smile.gif

I don't exactly know what I'm going to contribute, but I'll figure something out.

Well, I'm glad for the positive feedback about this already. I know that all your help will make this go faster. I forgot to mention one thing. I've got a copy of the old one that DI made, and I'm using it as reference for some things. Since I have it already, please don't go over something that is explained just as well in there. But, if you are able to further upon something there, by all means, go for it. I'll not be offended if you do go over something else, its just that it will take more time...and I'm sure you all want me done as soon as possible.

I've been trying to go over DI's bible, but it doesn't go far.

I'll try to help out, but I'm not that good at modding.
The main problem for me is memgraft, so if I learn that I might be able to make some small tutorials, etc.

In Iscript.bin editing, don't forget to include something on ICE and something on IceCC.

Will it include things on Tileset data? I need to know what each tileset filetype does.

Add lifting buildings! How you can do that and make buildings load and unload. And beta stuff?

dont know if u got this already but heres thread on random attacks using iscript.bin-->X

of course u can find all that in the manual... but the thread explains a few things (for noobies who read it) and it gives a fairly detailed example smile.gif

A project called StarCraft: Unraveled is already in the progress and has come quite a bit. http://scu.logicalknot.org/

It's a wiki (meaning everyone can add and improve the content), so just register and help out there instead smile.gif

Ojan, you're right. That will be what I'll do. BK mentioned that to me when I started this, but I became too busy with Reclamation and FireGraft to get too much done on it.

For everyone who's given stuff to me(or will), if it isn't there, it will be.
