Well, it's not strictly related to mod-making, but I have a question and this seemed like the most logical place to put it. Is it possible to save a replay of a battle in which a mod was used and have the replay work properly? I've tried running my Doom Dragoon replay both with and without the original mod, but it never works. I got rid of it, so I can't post it here, but is this phenomenon specific to me, or does it always happen?

Actually, I've Tried this, and there are two reasons.

1)You Cannot See Mod effects Without The Mod on. So Forth, If you taped a Mod Game and viewed it with Normal SC, It Would Crash.BUT if you get on a mod and view a normal SC Replay it will work..

2)Your Replay Maker hates You :-P

I doubt that Starcraft hates me. I played the game for which I recorded the replay, and I certainly don't hate myself. Regardless, when I run the replay IN the mod, it still crashes. What's up with that?

Hmm... I dont know... that is wierd... u know when i taped my replay i had a tank with 60 range take out a bunch of civs... when i played back the replay it showed that the civs alive and my tank didn't attack them (cause when i played replay my mod wasnt on so the tank didnt have 60 range anymore)... if i did same thing with marines i wonder if when i walk by whether they will attack me... or will they do nothing since they are SUPPOSED to be dead... i wonder...

I think what happens is that replays re-enact the game, they don't record it truely. So if you tell a tank to attack in a mod and save a replay, it will try to attack with whatever stats it has. If it doesn't have enough range, it won't attack.

Sounds reasonable. But then why does the game crash when I run my modded replays while the mod is active?

hmm... dunno maybe cause the replay isnt set to handle a mod?

Yes, that also sounds quite reasonable. All the same, though, I'd like to find some kind of authoritative answer on this. Google searches haven't done me any good.
