Okay, I got Half Life 2 (one of five games for Christmas), and am pretty far in the Route Kanal level. Can I just say... HOLY CRAP! This game is art. I mean, it's like a whole other experience. You need to play it to know what I'm talking about, because it's pretty darn hard to imagine otherwise. I mean, I had no idea that it would be so good. What I really like about it is that while there is like one path, that path is almost never clear. Okay, from time to time that's extremely annoying, such as when you have to search for the exit while Combines are raining death down upon you from above, but it certainly adds a frantic pace to the game. Ammo always seems to be running low, and in the blink of an eye your 100 health 80 suit (like armor) will be reading 24 health. The graphics are amazing, though I must say that F.E.A.R. does look a very small bit better. The transitions are great from, "la la la, I'm walking peacefully," to, "oh my God I'm going to die!" because they are so believable and done so well. The puzzles are never too challenging (meaning the answer takes a bit but not too much contemplation to figure out). Everything about this game is fantastic. There is seriously not a single part that I could think to improve.
I was just starting level 8 when I decided to download the "Nude Alyx" mod. I reloaded Chapter 5 (Black Mesa East) without saving Chapter 8, and then it autosaved over my Chapter 8 autosave. At least I have a save mostly through that really horrible "We don't go to Ravenholm" level. That is scary crap man. I never want to play that level again lol. Though I redid the level just to conserve ammo, and once you know how to play it it's definitely one of the quicker levels. And I did get to see some boobies, so life isn't that bad. Still, I wish I had saved it at Chapter 8.
I beated the game, the level that I hated is the part where it a bit copied out of Resident Evil. But I do like the super gravity gun.

I hate those things that drag you up to the ceiling, I got past the first part where you encounter like 12 of em, now I'm at the part where there is more and its dark. I'm scared.

The barnacles aren' that hard to kill.
I know, but I like faint if I get pulled up by one.
Use your crowbar. Some of them actually makes you go to secret places, ya know.
Just wait till you get to the Resident Evil-esque level.

That's the part after you get the gravity gun, but Super Gravity Gun > Gravity Gun.

You only know if it's a secret place if the front shows the game logo, or the devil sign with an A and a circle around it. Secret places gives you items that'll help you throughout the game.
Half-Life 2 is sexy.
But easy.
Have you played half life one? a mod team is remaking it with the hl2 engine
http://www.blackmesasource.com/flash/index.html. On another note i really liked this game also, sadly every time i try to install now it doesnt work. Wait intell you play cs:s

Indeed it is.
Zombie, that modification is interesting, but doesn't work?

Why wait for Countstrike: Source?

yep amazing game, it combines action, puzzles, drama, and gameplay all together
its sick
the physics amazed me, but i play css now
owning caboose

Its graphics pwn and so does its gameplay. Just about everything is good about it but it is just missing something that would make it a favorable game in my opinion. 8.75/10
I got it for xbox, getting it for pc cause ya know, i gots ta get all the source games off steam. My favorite level is probably... any that involves killing a strider! Those things are sick "SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!" -fires rocket-
I only like "We don't go to Ravenholm" because of father Grigori, he's a bad@$$. And it's pretty easy, fast zombies just suck, and slow zombies are too easy to kill or outrun, or watch get chopped up by spinning blades of doom

The level "We don't go to Ravenholm" is a copy of Resident Evil, but that's the second part you start using your gravity gun. The Fast Zombies are the skeleton Zombies that the headcrab owned for a long time, The Slow Zombies are just nasty to look at while the headcrab is off their face, the poisonous Zombies with three poisonous headcrabs is sick. Father Grigori is weird sometimes, he's a vigilant, a Holy Person, Uses a Shotgun and says "Muahahahahaha" sometimes.
How is it a copy of resident evil?
Dude the gravity gun is a total copy off from doom3. ID software had that idea ages b4 half life 2 and had a game with it b4 hl2. That is total violation of copyright law.
I got the Half Life 2 Game of the year addition and Half Life Anthology from x-mas and i'll agree with Felagund that HL2 RULES! The graphics are indeed amazing and a huge step from the classic HL. But I always find myself playin CS:S with other people instead though. Must be because im stuck on a damn level lol.

Umm...I never saw this grav gun in Doom 3 when I played it...and didnt HL2 come out before Doom3? If so then the copyright law means diddly squat lol.
Doom3 didn't have a grav gun.
Whatever, the Ravenholm lelvel was sexy. Especially since you got the shotgun. I personlayy think Valve[sup]e[/sup] did a great job on the spookiness and aura of the level, especially when you "meet the fast zombies." The rest of the game was excellent, especially Water Hazard. I do wish there were more City-17 street battles.

Let's get the facts straight based on when the games came out:
Half-Life 2 - Nov 16, 2004
Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil - Apr 4, 2005
Which game came out first?
