I just finished reading this.....this.....monstrosity in Gr. 12 English. I'm curious to see what everyone else thinks of it. My mom says that she had to read it, too, and that guys hate it and girls love it. All I know is that this books is *barf!*
I don't think I have to read it when I'm a 12th grader....
I read two really good books,
1984 and
Brave New World
. Can't wait.
I've kind of been saving them till next year, because I want to read them anyways.
I might read wuthering hights too, for all I know. We will read much more than 2 books. Too bad teachers never let you read a book of your own choice and then allow you to write an essay without them giving us a prompt. As a 12th grader you should not only know how to write properly, but know what to write about.

hmm, in school, the only books I read and liked were... The Chrysalids, Cue for Treason, Of Mice and Men, The Pigman, To Kill a Mockingbird... ok ok, I liked most of them. If they were english.
French books suck, cause all french authors are nuubs and don't know how to make a good, detailed story.
PS: I have not read this book!
PPS: I agree, Black Death... should be able to choose your own books to read and write, as long as they fall under certain criteria... like... No Goosebumps! Or kiddie books, haha. God only knows I would have made an essay on Cujo, It, The Stand, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon and Salem's Lot... Stephen King is the KING!!!!!!!!
I dunno, I think it would be funny for someone to find recurring symbolism in Goosbumps, or how diction within Animorphs drives the characters to conquer iniquity.

And also - You liked To kill a mockingbird?!! That book was soooooooooooo boring, and the writing wasn't even that good. I like the ideas and morals it presents, but the book sucks
