I'm currently continuing on with my Core series of maps. I'm sure that a few of you have glanced over my original Core Roleplay, space terrain'd GERPlike map. Soon you may find my newest, Core Legend RP.
Core Legend was created to see if I could still make maps that worked, even using some newer concepts (No more civilians, MC spawning). But it lacks heavily in the features department.
So i'm currently working on a new map in the Core series, but I need to know what all is considered the 'BIG' features needed in a roleplay map to make it utterly excellent. This next one will probably be Jungle terrain, like most are, and so far the features i'm adding in (that Core Legend doesn't have) are:
-Wandering Computer
-Order Comp. units to attack spawner. (Complex trigger, different for each player)
-Disabled units (Once I learn how)
-Quick Spawner (If there's a way. *Consults tutorials*)
- ...
Anyway, that's about it, I think.
Heh for quick spawner you could use instead of an observer for the spawner you could make it a dropship! And in the dropship you could make it have units loaded and the units are named 1,2,3,4,5,6,ect. And you could store units as numbers. For example you could store a civilian as '1'. So everytime you unload the "1" unit from the dropship a civilian would spawn.

8 drop options, not enough. And it couldn't cover air units.

why not just give the players the actual buildings for the normal units I'm sure That would speed things up.
Then it doesn't cover Hero units, but that IS an idea.

Did you not read my post? Beacuse you obviously didnt understand it. Let me make it more simple for people who are a bit 'slow'
There's a normal spawning area like in every RP. But you get two 'chooser' units instead of one. 1 Chooser = the normal chooser. The other chooser is your 'hotkey' chooser. Heres an example, if you move the 'hotkey' to the wraith (omg air..) a computer player registers wraith as slot 1 or whatever slot is remaining. Then when you unload "1" from your bunker, let's say it's a zergling unit. A wraith spawns from the dropship. Is it a little more clear for you eh?
It is clear now, but it's too complicated. Simplicity wins. Thanks for explaining and giving an idea though.

Menu systems like that are not good for roleplays where you need to see what other players are saying all the time.

anyway space rps get boring after a while... that is with regular terrain but you said that you will make it like gerp right? i dont think that new concepts only will set your rps differnt from others. you also need good terrain and unit naming.... well thats my theory anyway tell me if i can help.

-Anonymous names, because not everyone decides to use the names (and then they become a hinderance).
-My terrain is usually well detailed, in my opinion.
Why don't you try a time ban feature?
why not make different selectors, mc a unit when you want 1 of that unit, broodling a unit for two, and bring a civilian to the unit for 3

(I know you said no more civilian selectors but what the hell). I don't know if it would be faster, but it might.
Time ban is where when you put a civ on a player's beacon, it forces the player to view a section and preserve it so he/she can't move at all. When the person is not being noobish then you unban.

God, that's BRILLIANT. O_o I will use that! Without ANY doubt.
But as for the different units for different spawn amounts, that just brings in too much unnecesary complexity to a RPer. It needs to be just "Oh, that makes that like that" bam bam bam done. Detours are detractions.
Volc's crazy new one, while it has wonderful features and is supposedly for us 'expert RPers"... It's too complicated to work in. It's understandable, but it takes too much time to find what you need and how you need to do it.
Organization will be another key thing to my map.
If you going to put it in your map, atleast give me Credit!

Wouldnt the "noobish" just time ban the "un-noobish". Could be easily minupulated. Also you could use EUD conditions to detect upgrades, so if somebody upgrades it goes.
"_ is upgrading!".
Or you could make it so in begning of game you set the "rules" and use EUD's to enforce them. Like if u make it "no ups" and som1 researches upgrade. They get 1 warn. And so on untill they get like 3 and then gg them.
yeah time ban doesnt seem to have any importance. i mean if you timeban a noob then when you untime ban them they will still be a noob. no offence power of ghost its a brilliant system but it doesnt really have practicallity....
Yeah but you got to insult them, or teach them how to play.
Admiral_Ramirez could you give a list of the features from the Core Legends RP so we know what functions you have already so we don't suggest functions that are already in the old map?
Power_of_Ghost that system is great but impractical, you'd have to have it so that it takes multiple people to time ban someone otherwise no one could play because they'd all be time banned.
Try these ideas, 1-10, ideas i suggest
Enable air to go inside/outside of a CS-9
More sound effects-3
A system that teachs how to play-7
Forces player to vision you-5
Forces player to unable to spawn-8
For a core rp, one I played it, the terrain was too... perfect.Try to make it slight less perfect-3
Also have a beacon that auto invics CS so if noobs attack it, it wouldn't destory cause no one wants CS to be destory or the games games messed up-7
I got more ideas coming, just tell me more upgrades you want, if you use my ideas you'll be a better Rp maker then CSMF-Fever( maker of ticondera Rp)
hm a map that teaches people how to RP thats not a bad idea... that will certainly increase the number of RPers
