I used to use www.bizhat.com. It gives you a free subdomain, decent amount of space (don't remember exact amount), though it doesn't support PHP or other server side scripting (and I think no frontpage extensions). Other then that, its completely free. You don't need to post in forums or anything like that.
Just so you know, since it doesn't support PHP, PHP scripts like PHPbb won't work on it, if you want forums I advise getting a hosted one at www.invisionfree.com or something like that and link from your main site.

Use vixle.com it gives you next to infinite space for free, but only a subdomain. You get 10 mysql databases, 10 subdomains, and free upgrades when youre at 95% space. It supports every scripting language also! Also, he just asks you (not forces you) to put one TEXT ad one ONE of your pages. Very great hosting, with support to.

Didn't you say you have to post on the forums or something?

Ramorax.com

Just make 5 posts and ask for free hosting. Less than 48 hours, they will tell you if your application form was accepted or rejected.

The catch? You gotta have 100 points per day. You can post alot and save up if you are on vacation.

If you don't need MySQL, you could try www.zap3x.com.

100MB, php, Unlimited Bandwidth.

But, Ramorax HAS 500mb file space!

Space is one of the least important things to worry about. It's not about how much you can store, but how many times you can transfer it.

Also, you get that hosting almost instantly, no posting required.

No, there aren't any adds. Go to my homepage. It does have a message that I put to go to freewebs, but im just a nice guy. And its not slow at all, but sometimes my crappy Opera for Mac wont load it up, but my other browsers do. (Mac FF, Mac IE, Safari)

So many people thinks freewebs is just noobish. It doesnt have FTP, PHP, etc.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Shmeeps on 2006-01-08 at 17:27:08
It's good for a starter website, and also, you don't need FTP, nor do you need PHP unless you actually have a use for it.

I really think Freewebs is one of the lowest ranking hosting services. The www.bizhat.com is free with much more features.
