Because of the oil in iraq having to supply us mostly, it is becoming harder to transport, causing a growth in price. It will go down probably by summer.

pfft. But that's old news. And that should've only raised it by two or three cents...not twelve.

You need to remember though, it is winter, making ALL of our oil supplies having slower tansportation due to snow.

The gas station wanted more money?

Heh, I thought the gas price was much lower over there, but it's actually higher than in Norway o.O
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kame on 2006-01-03 at 02:51:33
It doesn't snow much in Iraq, last I checked tongue.gif

but winter does bring up a good point, what with winter and stuff...but then why did the utilities raise their prices a month earlier than when the car gas began to rise?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kow on 2006-01-03 at 03:28:08
The reason gas prices fluctuate so much is because we've so few refineries in our country that if one were to be wiped out, the price would raise nearly a dollar or more. We're not tapping our own oil, but are paying high amounts for foreign oils. Winter is here, so snowy conditions make it more expensive to transport the oils to the stations.

Anna, your tank is only 1 gallon? laugh.gif

25 to fill up my volvo ^.^
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CaptainWill on 2006-01-03 at 08:37:46
It costs about the equivalent of $80+ to fill up an average sized fuel tank in the UK. Consider yourselves lucky. tongue.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kow on 2006-01-03 at 09:36:28
It costs less for minors to fill up (non tax paying residents) because we get taxed on gas making the prices seem lower.

I know the answer... shifty.gif heheh. Actually, I don't believe it's B.S.

The gas prices rise and fall with Bush's approval ratings. When his approval is on the rocks, the gas prices go down to make us less edgy about it, but once he feels safe again, they start to climb. Before Katrina, they were steadily rising (if you recall, they were already rediculous before Katrina). A few weeks after Katrina, they plummetted. After he lost his nominee for the Supreme Court, they went down some more. When he gave that "heartfelt" speech a week or two ago (which gave his ratings a boost) the prices have been steadily climbing since.

I'm not citing a source here, it is my own observation.

By the time we are out of petrolium we would have mass produced other means of energy sources.

Gas prices have been pretty low these days.

It's averaging about $0.52 a litre and when Katrina came by, we hit $0.90 a litre.

Last few weeks it was at $0.51, but one cent doesn't do much. Costs about $30 to fill up my 1992 Isuzu Rodeo and about $25 on my 2005 Toyota Rav4. But the Rav is better because I get 3 average weeks per tank as oposed to the Isuzu's 2 weeeks.

I meant like once it got to america, the transportation in snow would be brutal.

ADDITION:
I think doodan is right. Afterall, there has been absolutely no reason truly for the raise and decrease in gas price.

The recent sudden decrease (about a dollar, wasn't it?) happened because gas companies were being accused of capitalizing on the scare that Katrina was going to screw up the gas prices. Granted, it was going to happen, but since transportation and refining takes about three months, it shouldn't've raised so much so fast. So, the gas companies got in trouble, and they lowered it, and it was stable for quite a few weeks. and all of a sudden BAM.

Gas prices don't bother me at all. I always fill up at the same Chevron gas station and get premium. Whether its $2.25 like is now or its $3.10 like it was when it was really bad. Who cares?! Honestly gas prices would have to creep towards five bucks a gallon to make me think twice.

What car do you have though?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by VizuaL on 2006-01-04 at 15:45:21
the price of a good ammount of gas is a couple bean burritos and a 3 liter bottle of coke

There's such thing as a three liter bottle of coke?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by n2o-SiMpSoNs on 2006-01-04 at 16:54:59
I dont know if anyone said it but this is why i think they are rising

China and India are all rapidly coming to be super powers like us so they are having more and more a demand for fossil fuel. so if more and more fuel is going their then not as much will be going to the US. supply and demand?

plus the war in iraq doesnt help

plus the hurricanes and natural disasters dont help.
