When I was 6 or 7 my first console was a Sega, my friend had a nintendo but I never really got into it. That one duck game with gun was fun though
When we got the Sega we also got that Sega Cd thing, I didnt know what the hell it did so I never used it. Some years later after had rented every Sega game from the local Blockbuster at least 4 times I finally figured out there were no more new games for Sega. Around that time I wanted something better, so I convinced my parents to get me one with some crap like "everyone has one" . It was either Playstation 1 or Nintendo 64, I went with the Playstation possibly because the games didnt have such a kidde aproach, Im saying this when I was still technically a "kid" lol.

Im still glad I made that decision to get the PS, probaly the only reason I got a PS2 that and PS2 came out a year earlier than xbox and GC. Im still yet to actually buy a xbox of my own. But like my friend that had the nintendo he now has an xbox so I play his, when I feel like playing a game that isnt on PS2.

I never really got much into PC gaming besides playing RTS games, there are just some things consoles are much better at, like Halo besides the Internet multiplayer the rest kinda sucks. But then there are things consoles might never be able to do like the wonder called Starcraft I think everyone knows the utter horror monstrasity SC was on the Nin 64. lol

The first real time I got hooked at video games was at the hospital... I had an infection at an eye and had to stay there for like a week. I met this nice doctor, he was comming to see me everyday, and on one of them, he brought a TV with a Nintendo. I was playing Mario Bros all day.

Then I got hooked to Super Mario Kart. Then etc... The moment we moved 650 kms away from where I was born, I believe I didn't find any other warm place other than my good old SNES...

Ahhh...

On my old win3.1 system, we'd play stuff like JumpMan and Crystal Caves. Those were great games.

Edit: Oh and Jetpack too, which I still play. biggrin.gif

When I was like 4, my dad let me play on the old 286 (though I really sucked). I forgot some the names, but we had tons of diskettes (good days, huh? tongue.gif ) with games on them (even the older 5½ diskettes). My most memorable ones were some old Sega racing game (it was one of those Accolade games), Prince of Persia, Test Drive 3, and a couple of others. I distinctly remember my dad telling me to get off the comp one day so he needed to work, and while he was gone, I tried to start one of the games (I needed my fix wink.gif ). It was Norton Commander and I really had no idea wtf I was doing (hey, I was 4, give me a break), so I ended up screwing with some of the files (not sure which, but I remember my dad being pissed when he came back tongue.gif ).

I also remember how I got StarCraft. It was August 1998, I was in Russia at the time, when we wanted to buy WarCraft II (since that was one of the only RTS games that I just tested at a friend's house). There was this huge convention every time in August when people gathered to sell new software (most of which was pirated beacuse most people couldn't afford licensed copies. I believe that's still the case there.) Almost nobody had it (it was pretty old by now), but one of the sales guys said "Well, we don't have WarCraft II, but we do have a new game. It's called StarCraft, it's basically..." and he explained it to us in a short form. So we got it, and I remember that the first thoughts were "Wow, what great graphics!" (lol) and "I can't believe I can't capture buildings in this game" (I was used to playing C&C and Red Alert before this). I got used to it and I haven't played for Zerg or Protoss until like a year later. This happened, because my bro lent it to some guy he knew and the guy spilled something on the CD. He wiped most of it off, but on one part, it hardened (I forgot what it was), so it tried to "scrape" it off (wow what a dumbass friend my bro had). He ended up damaging the disc severely so we couldn't install it. Then, the next year, I really wanted to play it again, so my dad went to his workplace and got a copy from a co-worker. However, when we tried playing the game, it said "Storm.dll missing etc, etc, etc..." so he downloaded a copy from the Internet (at his workplace, again). Then it worked, and I ended up playing Protoss for the first time that summer. Also, we went on an outing when I met with a family that was moving somewhere (leaving the company), and they told me some cheats for the game. I haven't played Brood War since about four/three years ago though.

Long, eh? happy.gif

First games I ever played was on the old DOS system with games like One Must Fall 2097 (still have it!) and some other really kiddie games that I forget now. There was probably more, but the last things I remember was getting Tie Fighter for my computer, and playing it sparsely for a few months, even though I still suck badly at it. Anyways, I didn't play much games until I got StarCraft in 2000, and then, I was pretty much hooked for a long...long...time.

I got the first version on a Sega Smash Pack CD, it's awesome.

Personally though... I played stuff on Nintendos, definitely, first computer games though were Red Alert and Commandoes.

I got my copy of starcraft in a battlechest edition from a local wal-mart. wonder if yoshi has those in canada. before that i did play with a friend's disk, it was pretty fun, at first i sucked though. after finishing off the original campaigns i got a lot better. with brood war though i can't get past the last terran mission, torrasque harassed me too much. anyway my first experience with the mapedit thing that i can remember was adding a respawn function to the Dark World RPG, aka World of Darkness RPG in our download database.

Ninja Turtles on the original Nintendo. You know, the one where you sometimes look down from above and sometimes side-scroll through sewers and stuff? That game sucks, but it was the first real video game I played.

I don't think they ever banned it offically. It just happend to flop. But there were warnings that children under the age of 13 were not allowed to use it because it was damageing to not compleatly developed eyes.
