When I was like 4, my dad let me play on the old 286 (though I really sucked). I forgot some the names, but we had tons of diskettes (good days, huh?

) with games on them (even the old
er 5½ diskettes). My most memorable ones were some old Sega racing game (it was one of those Accolade games), Prince of Persia, Test Drive 3, and a couple of others. I distinctly remember my dad telling me to get off the comp one day so he needed to work, and while he was gone, I tried to start one of the games (I needed my fix

). It was Norton Commander and I really had no idea wtf I was doing (hey, I was 4, give me a break), so I ended up screwing with some of the files (not sure which, but I remember my dad being pissed when he came back

).
I also remember how I got StarCraft. It was August 1998, I was in Russia at the time, when we wanted to buy WarCraft II (since that was one of the only RTS games that I just tested at a friend's house). There was this huge convention every time in August when people gathered to sell new software (most of which was pirated beacuse most people couldn't afford licensed copies. I believe that's still the case there.) Almost nobody had it (it was pretty old by now), but one of the sales guys said "Well, we don't have WarCraft II, but we do have a new game. It's called StarCraft, it's basically..." and he explained it to us in a short form. So we got it, and I remember that the first thoughts were "Wow, what great graphics!" (lol) and "I can't believe I can't capture buildings in this game" (I was used to playing C&C and Red Alert before this). I got used to it and I haven't played for Zerg or Protoss until like a year later. This happened, because my bro lent it to some guy he knew and the guy spilled something on the CD. He wiped most of it off, but on one part, it hardened (I forgot what it was), so it tried to "scrape" it off (wow what a dumbass friend my bro had). He ended up damaging the disc severely so we couldn't install it. Then, the next year, I really wanted to play it again, so my dad went to his workplace and got a copy from a co-worker. However, when we tried playing the game, it said "Storm.dll missing etc, etc, etc..." so he downloaded a copy from the Internet (at his workplace, again). Then it worked, and I ended up playing Protoss for the first time that summer. Also, we went on an outing when I met with a family that was moving somewhere (leaving the company), and they told me some cheats for the game. I haven't played Brood War since about four/three years ago though.
Long, eh?
