Staredit Network -> Miscellaneous -> Psp Vs Ds
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Helios on 2004-06-02 at 16:50:47
I for one see the PSP being very good competition for the DS if not knocking it out all together. It will NOT flop like that peice of crap N-Gage, for one it has the entire company of sony behind it, N-gage was nothing more than a cell phone with better games on it bot that impressive.

But as of now and ever my money is on the PSP.

128 MegaBytes of availible game space on the DS vs 1.8 GigaBytes of game space on the PSP, come on thats an easy one.

nin64 graphics on the DS vs PS2 graphics on the PSP hmm tough decision there...not

PSP might cost a bit more than the DS but you are also getting more, besides if you are so strapped for cash that it makes that much difference in your choice maybe you shouldnt be getting either one of them.

Look at them,

the DS looks like a foldable brick while the PSP looks like some sleek gadget from Starwars or something.

As of now the PSP will be released in spring 2005 the DS later this year, but late release dates dont mean a damn when you look at the console market, xbox and gc came out a whole year later.

The DS might have a little advantage at first being the well known portable company it is, but in the long run PSP will do much better it just has much more to offer and there is a signifigant gap in technology between them, once people fully realise this the DS may well be crushed as well as nintendo's monopoly in this area.

It would be interesting if Microsoft were to come out with a portable, though I doubt it to be any time soon.

Bleh. Nintendo's gonna end up owning Sony at the end anyway.

They wont have ps2 graphics they say for sales and every body knows that you would need a huge handheld for tht and the ds will have a 30 foot wire less lan some day expanding country wide and the ds will own the psp and unless you got a way to cover your screen say good by screen

Early Relase = Good for market and the company. It allows them more time to fix bugs and increase reliability for the future. By the time Psp is released, l wouldnt buy it on the first wave, wait for it to become workable so you dont have to suffer from the first generation people. Both turn out to be head to head battlers; but a prediction this early is likely to be wrong.

Yeah, Nintendo owns the handheld market. Just like kleenex owns the tissue market....absolutely no room for any sort of competition...

PS: Mr Camo, where'd you get that avatar? It's totally censored.gif in'

Early release dates mean nothing, again look at xbox came out a whole year later still in my opinion a better system in many ways.

PSP was supposed to come out this year they even said so on freakin CNN, the whole reason the Psp's release date was pulled back was to fix bugs. Whats the point of putting a faulty peice of equitment on the market then going back to fix bugs when they can fix them now.

Yes the PSP will have Ps2 graphics, if you havent noticed technology has signifigantly increased in the past few years and ps2 was originally released almost 4 years ago.

Ok what makes it better ?, the PSP has better hardware better graphics and will more than likely have better games. I see no competition here besides the rabid nintendo fans, everyone else will soon realise the advantages and switch over.

what makes it better?

Well, last time I checked, a system with crummy games on it is crummy. Look at the Xbox. System stats are superb, but the games are either EA sports masterpieces (read: remakes), shoote'em up games, or games available on all systems. What company has the most handheld games right now? Nintendo. What company has the most handheld experience? Nintendo. Sony knows nothing.

Dude, Sony has the best third-party developers working for them. I think people are going to be tired of buying the "new" Nintendo handheld after they make some changes that should have been included with the original (Advance vs Advance SP). Oh yeah, and who wants to buy games they bought 10 years ago again? Nintendo's going to have to release something new or else people will eventually catch on to the fact that Nintendo hasn't even made an attempt at a new franchise in years (this doesn't include third-party developers, you skeptics. They have been trying new stuff, and it's been great).

Right now, the PS2 lacks several things, but mostly it lacks the smooth feel and control of the GameCube. I'm willing to bet that Sony is going to make up for the shortcomings of the PS2 with the PSP. At the very least, it's going to be a very interesting experiment in corporate war.

Dont you think when the very first Playstation 1 came out Sont knew nothing then, but the PS1 is still one of the greatest consoles ever created, essentially it was amazing. And I believe that even though Sony "knows nothing" about the portable industry it will be just like the ps1 it will be great.

I know little of the 2 systems, except what has been stated directly in this thread.
I have no opinion.
Nintendo's been practically mastering the hand-held genre, they have legions of fanatic, well, fans, they have Sony working with them, and of course, despite its new 3-rd party freedom, Konami seems to be making Castlevania games for nothing but Nintendo.
But Nintendo's been getting crappier and crappier.
While as Sony, well, I generally don't like their games.
That's my 10 cents.
