Laggy because your computer cant handle it.
And be more specific on what happens when you cant open it.

Once in Starforge go to Tool > Options
Decrease the Allocation Limits to resonable values. Press ok and Restart Starforge.
This will change the amount of memory designed for those settings. (or something like that)
