All the planets in our solar system rotate anticlockwise, except Venus. It is the only planet that rotates clockwise.

Hummingbirds are the only animal that can also fly backwards.

Insects do not make noises with their voices. The noise of bees, mosquitoes and other buzzing insects is caused by rapidly moving their wings.

The cockroach is the fastest animal on 6 legs covering a meter a second.

The word "listen" contains the same letters as the word "silent".

The only 2 animals that can see behind itself without turning it's head are the rabbit and the parrot.

A 'jiffy' is an actual unit of time for 1/100th of a second.

India invented the Number System. Zero was invented by Aryabhatta.

The whip makes a cracking sound because its tip moves faster than the speed of sound.

"Almost" is the longest word in the English language with all the letters in alphabetical order.

Twenty-Four-Karat Gold is not pure gold since there is a small amount of copper in it. Absolutely pure gold is so soft that it can be molded with the hands.

Electricity doesn't move through a wire but through a field around the wire

A crocodile can't move its tongue and cannot chew.
Its digestive juices are so strong that it can digest a steel nail.

A person can live without food for about a month, but only about a week without water. If the amount of water in your body is reduced by just 1%, you'll feel thirsty.
If it's reduced by 10%, you'll die.

Actually.. you couldn't tell with that one. Planets rotate in a three-dimensional area, so it is impossible to tell... and it depends on what side of the solar system you look at, etc..

Here's something that I thought was pretty awesome in physics today. We are now talking about astronomy (Don't know why it's in physics).

Light travels at an extremely fast speed as we all know. Light takes 8 minutes to reach Earth from the Sun. That means, that any sunlight you are getting hit by now(dark for me though), left the sun 8 minutes ago. So, in that case, if the sun were to blow up right now, you wouldn't see the explosion of the sun (supernova in that case) until 8 minutes later. You would still be receiving light from the sun even after it blew up for 8 more minutes, but then it would stop and you would see the sun explode. Pretty neat. So, in other example, if a giant firework the size of a huge star exploded 40 light years(how far light travels in a year, most of you know that) away, we wouldn't see that firework explode until 40 years later...

Yeah facts would always be nice, like proving how they are incorrect, do you have a degree in animal mouthes? And the gold one is true I know that one for a fact.

Uh, I suppose under conditions like things from the movie "SAW" then yeah I could lick my elbow, but I'd have to dislocate my arm or break it in several places

EDIT: I heard this one one CSI there are two types of oysters (I think it was oysters) one that was male and one that can change gender as it pleases. Hee hee.

I saw it done, you just need to be very flexible.

It only has North and South in front of it to tell the difference between them. If it helps any, they can also be refered to as America (North) and America (South)

I've seen it done in two ways. People who can bend their elbows and someone who like curled around their entire body and licked it. I don't see why anyone would go through all that trouble anyway.

I know everything, trust me. Corocdiles cannot melt metal in their stomaches as they swallow rocks to grind food, and they pass out the same way as food. Maybe some crocodiles can, just like some people can. But not the majority.

You cannot make 100% pure gold with today's smelters, so how would you know?

Oceania = The greater area of Australia includeing Tazmania and the other islands.

Many animals can change genders. So what?

I know people thats tounges are long enough that they just have to bring it to their mouths, infact i know 4 of them.

Another nifty "fact" Uranus spins neither clockwise nor counterclockwise. It lies horizontally on it's axis.

Speaking of insects:
Scientists cannot explain how Bumble Bee's are able to fly. Evey model of how they are able to achieve flight defies physics.

There is a speices of ant that is now classified as two seperate species, because the males and females have developed efficient ways to clone themselves.

QUOTE(Wikipedia)
One of the most distinctive features of Uranus is its axial tilt of ninety-eight degrees. Consequently, for part of its orbit one pole faces the Sun continually whilst the other pole faces away. At the other side of Uranus' orbit the orientation of the poles towards the Sun is reversed. Between these two extremes of its orbit the Sun rises and sets around the equator normally.

Once again, uranus doesn't rotate clockwise or counterclockwise.
