With a new year upon us, it is time to update the Map Spotlights.

The rules are simple.

Nominate any number of maps you'd like. After 1 week, any maps that receive 2 or more nominations (not counting the map creator) will be put into a poll. 1 week later, the top 3 will be put into the spotlight. 2 and a half weeks later, the entire process starts again, so maps will stay on the spotlight for a total of 1 month.

Rules are subject to change, suggestions should also be posted.

Criteria for maps nominated:

• MUST be nominated by 2 or more people excluding the map's creator
• MUST be finished after summer of 2005 (e.g., demos started before summer of 2005 are acceptable)
• MUST have not been on Map Spotlights before
• MUST be hosted on SEN
• MUST in Download Database
• MUST be submitted ON or AFTER August 1st, 2005

DTBK Note: Huh? Spotlight submissions MUST be in the DLDB. How else are they hosted on SEN? Also, set a finite date for submissions. Say submitted to the DLDB no earlier than July 30, 2005.

PCFredZ: There's a chance the map may be on the forums and not DLDB, but for clarification's sakes, fine, it must be in the DLDB. Rules updated

UPDATE 1:

With the results of the Holiday Map Making Contest revealed, I have updated the Spotlight to show the winning entries (sorry DEAD, your GTA has been on there for, like, 3 days). They should be kept up there at least a month, considering how the last contest's winners, myself included, were up there well over that. Thus I will extend both the Nomination and Voting periods for the next Spotlight to 2 weeks each.


UPDATE 2:

My hopes for maps are ones made this schoolyear, i.e., after summer of 2005. If enough people want, though, I can extend it to ones made in the early part of 2005 as well.


UPDATE 3:

There have been many nominations of old maps, some made years ago. I have decided that it's best to limit the nominations to maps that are recent, to promote both new mapmakers and new maps. Currently this limit is within this schoolyear, which are all maps made after the summer of 2005. While said limit is negotiable, it would take a LOT of people to change it.


UPDATE 4:

Important dates have been updated as follows:

Nomination deadline: January 20th
Polls will be up on January 21st
Polls deadline: January 31st
New spotlights will be up February 1st

Hmm, I know I if talk about one of my own maps, it doesn't count, but I think my campaign (The Saga of Doodan) may be spotlight worthy. I'm not trying to toot my own horn here (well, not too much), but I put a ton of work into it, and it's at least as good as some other things that I've seen nominated. The only other map I've played recently that I really think deserved a place in the spotlight was DEAD's GTA map and it's already up there.

I guess what I'm saying is give my campaign a try and if you think it's good enough then mention it again here.

It was fun and had a story to compare to SC itself (Not really, but it's sort of close, just needed to work out some parts that didn't make it as, sudden). I had a lot of fun playing the map and hearing the story, everyone else should see the awesomeness!
