I usually find I enjoy a map that has a good special effects, cutscenes, etc. I remember about a year ago I played an RPG that had broodlings "hatch" out of a dying Marine as the player watched.

I can't wait to play DragonLance again (I just found it in the Downloads section) because I love all the little things that make it so aesthetically pleasing.

Right now I'm experimenting with the "blur" effect - moving several cloaked observers across the screen, like a flashback transition.

So how in any way would this benifit us as a map making community?

Making maps that aren't just 'Okay, pick a unit and go kill things. Here is where you level up.' but maps that are 'It was a dark and stormy night...' quality.

EDIT: Here's the forum description:
"You can show off your maps, give ideas, tell everyone what you're working on, or discuss staredit."

I'm telling people what I'm working on. No need to get all huffy... sad.gif

No your not, you didnt even tell us the name; setting or idea of the map your working on.

What does huffy mean?

"Huffy" is being angry without any real reason...

I'm not looking to argue, I just want to spark some discussion here.

It sounds interesting, but theres nothing to discuss because theres nothing to talk about wink.gif

The thing with making threads is you want a balance between open-endedness and a concrete discussion object. If you have a basket, and you want to hold lots of stuff, but you only have so much material to make it out of, then if you make the basket too wide, stuff will fall out, wheres if you make it too narrow, it won't hold as much. Hope that analogy helps.

Anyway, basically your describing my Trigger Happy Offense RPG in a nutshell wink.gif. This will be loaded with dynamic gameplay and story stuff. In fact, I might even rename it to give it its own identity, rather than jump off the back of my quasi-successful D map of the same name.

Yes, quasi means what by the way? Analogical arguments, now it is a discussion, and Pinecone, you are the most stressed person i know!

May the spirits calm you down one day!

I've been locating loads of rain.wavs and thunder.wavs to use at random times during a project of mine.
