Cards. Yes, cards. These rectangular sheets have given satisfaction to the many who have used them.

You can have your Starcrafts, Counter Strikes or Pokemons, but cards have remained with us for the longest time.

First of all, cards are cheap. You can get them for $3 or less. Sure, you might have to replace them, but at $3, you can get 17 or so decks for the price of one console game. You don't even need the console! There will never be upgrades or electricity costs or worrying if you have enough RAM to run it at all. You don't need batteries like your GBAs, nor do you need memory cards like your PSPs.

Second of all, cards have fairly low learning curves compared to the games of today. When you have games like Halo, where you need to know your trigger from your flashlight, to Starcraft where you need detectors for cloaking, cards are a matter of knowing some combos beat what and that higher numbers beat lower numbers.

Thirdly, a set of cards will give you multiple games to play. From holdem, poker or blackjack, to posoy, seven card stud, to even 52 pickup. Even when you are limited by four controllers, cards will let you have as many as you want. What a great value.

Fourthly, they are portable. You can carry them to the library, the bathroom or the kitchen.

The fifth and final reason cards are the best multiplayer game is the act of shuffling. Whether you play blackjack, poker or holdem, the fact is that given a good shuffle, each draw will be RANDOMIZED. This means that the time you played at Flem's house to the time you played with mom will be DIFFERENT. Randomization increases replayability, because you won't be bored because you can predict what the draw will be. Cards have the best replayability of any game I have ever played.

Of course you can't play cards online physically, but you then have to factor the costs of the pc, internet, system requirements and the purchase of the game.

Solo games are also limited with cards because there's no AI to drive them.

But when you invite a couple friends over and are tired of watching pokoman, cards can't be beat.

My point is I attempt to prove something and you agree with me or not.

Let me ask you a question: do you like card games? Or do you prefer console/pc gaming more? and why?

Card games are very fun when you get the right people to play a fun card game. But console gamming is usually more fun, there is only so much you can do to cards same with games but the range is a lot more.

2.5 words. Pokémon Cards.

Oh and card shuffles aren't entirely random if you don't shuffle for more than 5 minutes randomly.

I'm off to play some 500 rummy tongue.gif

Card games are all well and good, but I really don't think you can beat Balderdash. Who can't love making up definitions to really weird words?

The only problem with cards is that I find them really boring when you're playing them for more than ~3 games!
Oh well, I didn't see that one coming.. I was looking for an FPS -_-

Depends on what card game you're playing, and how old you are... I remember two years ago, if I had a good friend to play with, I could duel in Yu-gi-oh for a really long time... but if you're playing a game like War, not so much...

I was talking about playing cards, you know, with the spades, trees and diamonds, but I guess TCGs are okay as well. They really zap your wallet however, when you need to buy booster packs and such.

At first, thats what I thought you were talking about, TCGs.
But then you said 3$ and I knew it wasn't them!
TCGs are fun though, I like magic the gathering.
