i have some questions:
1. what is map protection, and how do i get it, or why do i need it
2. do most of you have xtra as your main editor and starforge or somethin for special purposes?
3. what is the difference between all the modes of xtra?

1. It is a way to keep noobs from stealing your map or editing it. You can find some tools in the DownLoad DataBase.

2. Starforge is my main editor, triggers and all. It only USED to be the way you stated.

3. If you took the time, you could see for yourself. Well, p12 mode is so you can work with p12 units, special mode makes it so you can place units on water and stuff, and I forget what else. :l

The map editors I use are Staredit for normal, blizzard fashioned terrain, StarForge for square/extra palette features, like... extra wide cliff slopes/bridges. I have SCMDraft(had it even before StarForge), but have never used it.

To find out ALL the modes of extra, you may wanna search the forums... I recall a post saying what mode did what... and you may wanna check in the DLDB(download database) for files and such. They often come with ReadMe's.

Ugh, use your heads people. Just go to the directory where you installed X-Tra and open the "SC X-tra Editors.txt" file. Or, if you use its Launch Wizard, it's right under the Help Menu. :/

1•Ðeathkight answered that..

2•Actually, it depends, Starforge Can be used for triggering as Well, but mostly for Special Stuff and X-tra is for triggering....

3•What Minimoose Said...And even though Me=Lazy I'll give U Da Freaking list of Differences pinch.gif

CLASSIC-MODE:
Standard version (All scripts, standard unit-setting, buildings everywhere-Buildings can be placed totally independent from terrain.

P12-MODE:
For the neutral player 12 (Ale scripts, all units for player 1-8, building placing like in StarEdit).
All units are given to player 12 when starting this mode, so this mode should be used at the start of a project to avoid annoing corrections with another mode later.

BASE-MODE:
For the fundamental map designing (StarEdit building placing, everything for player 1-8, also critters)

ALTERNATIVE-MODE:
An alternative to the Classic Mode (Addons are independend and placable everywhere)

SPECIAL-MODE:
Every unit/building requires just one point on the map, so ex. You can Stack in This Mode.(Addons and critters are not neutral, the Addons must be placed like buildings in StarEdit.) This mode should - if necessesary - used at the end of project to make it perferct.

Thats the List of modes, Had to Copy and paste and edit a bit to make Shorter tongue.gif

Another well used editor is SCMDraft 2, which is very useful as a go between, when using Star Forge and X-Tra Editor.

It works best with unit placement, and with some of the terrain, it can do all forms, but isn't as fast as Star Forge.
