Staredit Network -> Miscellaneous -> NEW GLITCH
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Diggidoyo on 2006-01-19 at 05:00:04
Ok, I was bored (MUST start off with these 4 words when we talk about things like this haha) last night and I decided to actually see if I could tinker around with Starcraft and make something unexpected happen. I used a generic map I made and used cheats to give me whatever units/spells I wanted.

I KNEW there is more to the zerg cloaking/stacking glitches that every knows about by now. So I tried changing these routines a bit, like throwing in a statis or recall somewhere.

It's not as much of an innovative glitch as, for instance, "cloak a ling" was when it was first discovered. My glitch just goes farther into a glitch that's already been found.

BUT, before I reveal it, I want to see if anyone can recognize it, and save me the shame of another hopeless case. Here are some screenshots of it:

Look! A line of spore colonies. That's not scary right? Especially not for the marines that are on their way....

OMFG the spore colonies have lurker spines!!!
user posted image

That could easily be a utilized defense in melee mode. The next picture, is a lot less practical, but still fun =D
user posted image

All of these colonies just have another unit sitting inside them, so both attacks are still fully functional!

Remember, these were done WITHOUT the following:
  • Triggers
  • Mods
  • Cheats (well... I used cheats... but I didn't have to tongue.gif)
  • Hacks
  • etc
Doesn't crash starcraft or anything else like that.... So! Two questions:
Has anyone seen this before? and
Does it seem interesting enough to learn?

ADDITITION!!!!

I remember I while back I saw some map that had a zergling running around on a spawning pool. There's even a tutorial for how to do it... I thought that was pretty cool.... UNTIL NOW!!!

Why settle for a spawning pool.... when you can have a Spawning LAKE!!! (complete with diving board and waterfall).

It requires some pre-placement but it acts just like unbuildable terrian. Shweet!!!

I don't know what you did, but it looks pretty easy.

Putting units on top of other units isn't exactly new.
Clearly, Tassadar Diggidoyo has failed us! =P

>Null.

What you do is you stack a bunch of drones and build buildings with them. Nothing too new. It's not an UMS concept either. It's just an old glitch.

Nice job moving it from the Null to the null?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by LegacyWeapon on 2006-01-19 at 15:57:42
Someone had moved it to Concepts. I moved it back to Null.

What do you mean stack a bunch of drones?

Ohh, the burrow trick DK (and I) discovered, nothing new at all.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by O)FaRTy1billion on 2006-01-19 at 17:27:45
You and DK discovered everything.

I found this when I was trying to recall burrowed lurkers.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by KaboomHahahein on 2006-01-19 at 19:06:26
At first I thought it was new then I said, wait, I've done that before. You use the stack glitch for the drones and you can walk all over the buildings.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by O)FaRTy1billion on 2006-01-19 at 19:08:31
That works too. But you can recall burrowing units under anything.

I made attacking mineral patches ohmy.gif enemy came by to expand and got nuxx0red by lurkers.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathknight on 2006-01-19 at 20:19:40
Well I'm 99% sure recall won't get a tank under buildings.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Diggidoyo on 2006-01-19 at 21:43:48
Haha as some people had said, yes you stack the drone much in the same way you would do it to a hydra. Then any building you make will be fully functional but you can walk through them. The spawning colony is the only one you can walk ON.

Also, as many people know, the stack trick nullifies itself when you burrow again. And the cloak glitch also cancels when you burrow. Well if you cloak a drone, doing the stack glitch doesn't EXACTLY make it burrow. So it stays cloaked. Which means you now have a stacked/cloaked drone (or any other zerg unit).

Now what can you possibly do with a stacked/cloaked drone? Try building a nydus canal in an enemy base smile.gif. Not only will they not be able to see it without detectors, but they will also WALK THROUGH IT, hindering detection.

Explain how there are multiple spawning pools overlapping each other. That can't be done with just a few stackable drones.

I believe this thread belongs in the gaming forum, I believe it has the potential to evolve into a well-constructed topic of wonder.

World Waller Workers!

I played that old map recently.
You take stacked marines and defend some zerg buildings.
And yes stacking units is old.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by KABOOM on 2006-01-23 at 00:03:42
like i said before we should make a thread or topic all about the glitchs that are known to us so we won't have these topics thinkin someone found something new. gott make sure how to do the glitchs too biggrin.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by IceWarrior98 on 2006-01-23 at 09:05:05
Didnt someone make a thread for these already though? Either way i wanna know how to do this! It'd be soo cool to have spores kill ground units biggrin.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Merrell on 2006-01-23 at 15:18:09
gf.staredit.net, too lazy to check if it still exists,
Report, edit, etc...Posted by KaboomHahahein on 2006-01-23 at 18:00:55
Well the forum seems to be gone
http://www.staredit.net/gf/

And this glitch doesn't allow you to make spore colonies attack ground units IceWarrior98.

^- Starcraft glitches.

Meh, I forgot he said he preplaced the spawning pools.

*Finds a way to do it without preplacing*

EDIT:

As Terran, you can build ~3 tiles away from the actual building site by recalling an SCV, as it's going to build, to an invalid position on the map.

EDIT2:

You can blind a Zerg building if you cast blind just before a drone builds, and the building is complete when the optical flare hits it.

EDIT3:

I havnt' realized this before, but medics that are holding position don't move at all, like they would normally do(turn around and stuff).

Clicking on the glitches just refresh the page. I don't think you linked it properly. I need to right click and Open Link in new tab to make it work.
