I say no because peace and hatred is like the light and the dark. One cant exist without the other. The politicians says there trying to bring peace, but they only want to make them selves look important and famous.

No, because peace isn't goal, it's a way.

No, total peace would require everyone to think with the same ideas. This is something I don't want and could never happen.

No, because it's against human nature. And we need conflict to evolve, as conflict weeds out the unfit.

We're overpopulated, full of personal problems, racism, etc. There isn't going to be peace. It's sad, but it's true. Peace would only occur if most of humanity was destroyed and then reunited under one force. Even then, somebody would screw it up and create more division any way. Total peace would require insane conformity, and if that ever happens, I would be destroying the peace personally.

Agreed, with both Spaceboy and Minimoose.
Peace is against human nature.
Look at humans, they're so un-peaceful and violent that they'll kill a completely harmless creature(i.e. gardner snake) just because they want to, smash spiders, torture spiders, religion problems which is ironic, torture just about any other creature, find entertainment in playing a game where you're just pretending to go around, steal cars, get prostitutes, and kill people(GTA Vice City), and have created weapons that, with only a few of, could destroy all life on an entire planet...

Agreed... Its human nature to have the need to be above someone... And its just in our nature to destroy ourselves. Eventually we may be our own undoing tongue.gif

I think there will be a peace when all or almost all humans are dead.

null; yes and no.
I believe the peace you are talking about is worldly peace, but there will be peace up in heaven and...bah. no more religous debate. I'm too tired.

World peace would be a kind of utopia, and a completely unattainable one.
Humans, when you look at the basics, are social animals that engage in altruism to some extent. However, our basic instincts of survival and self-preservation often override our desire to help other people to prosper. In some people, these instincts are more evident - their care for others is very small, usually through necessity, although sometimes through their genetics.

Also, why do we help each other? Do we ever help others in a completely selfless way? Not very often. How often have you given something, and then not expected to receive anything in return? I don't mean just physical things, like exchanging gifts at Christmas, but giving a gift to raise another's opinion of you?

There you can see that we are inherently selfish, and very rarely engage in activities to benefit others without there being something in it for ourselves. It is against our basic nature.

Our instincts are sometimes blurred by strong emotions, such as love, blind anger, or mental disability. In situations such as these, you do things that you wouldn't normally do that do not benefit you. Crimes of Passion are examples of these things. You might kill someone in a fit of rage - and then wish a few minutes later that you hadn't done it. The wish that you hadn't done it is the basic instincts beginning to kick in again. Concern for the deceased will probably low on the list of priorities; higher up will be things like 'Oh no, what have I done?' 'What do I do now?' 'Should I hide the body?' 'If I do that and I'm caught, will I receive a longer sentence?'

The point of this long rambling about human nature and survival instincts is that human nature will prevent there from ever being world peace. Even if world peace is attained, it won't last for long.

peace is an emotion. it is one thing all of us strive for, but some peoples idea of peace is to get rid of another race and that unwanted race retailiates
