i was thinking off adding a train..... but i dunno how it could be done.. any ideas/
Just use tanks and ultras and any other big unit, make them follow real close together one behind the other.
It's possible (and fairly easy) to do but making it 100% stable will require more work.
I was trying to make a snake like effect a few days ago, and this is pretty much the same thing.
I made 4 individual small locations follow 4 units. The head was controlled as I wanted (you can make the head controlled by the triggers too) and the other 3 units moved accordingly, not hard to do.
Well I tested my snake moving right and/or down -- no problems. But when I made it move left and/or up the units following eachother would try stopping on the left or top (whatever is closest) side of the unit they are following. I guess that's what Starcraft feels is the closest position to the goal.
Keeping the units controlled will keep the effect alive, otherwise it just looks real stupid

. I really need these snake triggers to work for one of my maps, but It's not something I'm focused on right now.
You're safe if your train will not stop moving or only be moving down and/ or right.
Are you trying to make a train of units or a train units can walk on?
If you want to make a train units can walk on, use starforge or scmdraft and using the terrian palette, use pieces of doodads and terrian to make a new object. I used a bridge and made a carrier in a map. You could probably create a train using the bridge in combination with some walls or something.
but i want it to look just like a train to make it have a realistic fealing.. and every time i try the units go to side to side and stuff like that...
Make 5 very small locations in starforge, set each one on 5 units, Have each location center on the unit in that location.
EXAMPLE:
Always~~
Move location [5] on Tank at [5]
Perserve Trigger..
Also, have issue order unit to the next location in the train.
Always~~
Order [Tank] at location [2] move to location [1]
Order [Tank] at location [3] move to location [2]
Order [Tank] at location [4] move to location [3]
Order [Tank] at location [5] move to location [4]
Preserve Trigger.
You can manually control the first one so all the other ones follow. good luck
Remember ~~ USE HYPER TRIGGERS--KK
I did this a while back. It works quite fine as long as you dont' make any sharp turns.
(don't click the locations in staredit.)
thank you. only 1 problem. the comp need to controll the tank if i change the units owner will it effect any>
Your have to have multiple triggers if it changes, or else place them in All Players and hope for the best.
We plan to have a similar effect in The Matrix, but with air units.
Air units can fly on top of eachother. It would be more difficult and not as smooth if you try to make a train with air units.
Yes, air units would try to go under each other when the main train stops it would look OOGLY

I've done a train, where it uses 2 identical looking units. Made in about 5 minutes today, and I know for sure the triggers can all be compacted into one( only thought of it after I finished), but oh well. My train does not

up
It was originally done with firebats, but the unit was a little too small for the area(1x1) and bats can bunch up together, so it screwd up.
EDIT: ha! Weather you move right or left or up or down, the train I have doesn't seem to screw up. I also tested this out, I havent been able to screw it up badly. Just don't criss cross your own train and all should be fine
EDIT2: PS. why don't Siege Tanks(Tank Mode) and Edmund Duke(Tank Mode) not have the same wireframe??

EDIT2: PS. why don't Siege Tanks(Tank Mode) and Edmund Duke(Tank Mode) not have the same wireframe??
Because there differant units. . . Is this a trick question?
Also thats almost the exact same triggers i used in mine. Except mine is one trigger and I used the same unit and used smaller locations.
.... there's like 8 different pixels different in the wireframes. And they don't overly change the appearance of the wireframe.
So why didn't blizzard use the same wireframe?
Why don't you mail blizzard about it? [/sarcasim]
Wow, something must have crawled up your ass and died? This is a legitimate question.
Also, do I annoy you so much that you must insult and pick apart everything I say?
Its like asking why is the first player red, or why is the game called starcraft when stars are only visible in space tileset.
It's a dumb question. What kind of answer are you expecting?
I wasn't going to say much. But then you asked it again as if we created the game, and you expected someone to jump up and say "well, the hero tank's driver has larger arms so the wire frame is slightly different. This is because Edmund Duke is 4 inches taller than average tank driver."
AHHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHHAAAAAAAAAHAHA
This is by far the funniest thing bolt has ever done.

Lol....Hey, that makes me think.....why is the first player red?[/plain idiotness]
ok so if i use the same triggers but change the owner i want a comp will it still work?
Just give the first car somewhere to go.
LOL, OMG Bolt is like moose...only moose calls everyone a n00b....
Why exactly is the first player red....why not like silver or gold...
Its the first color of the rainbow. But blue isn't the second lol. I think its the same order there in War2. Red and Blue are common team colors for some reason. Proboly depends on how much they stand out and crap like that. (hince the reason P7 is green in the snow tileset)
Why do they called it starcraft? if only one level is in space why don't they cant it Galaxy Craft since it's on different planets in a galaxy.
