Alright, everyone must have played SCV football at one point or another right? And how its absolutely nothing like football? You must have also played basketball at one point to, which is a well made map with innovative ideas. Also, you must have played baseball... who hasn't?

Anyway:
My idea is to combine these games into a map that will play and feel like real football, using all 4 different transports to effectively make a map that will be both challenging and fun. As in basketball, the 4 transports will be filled, but in this they will be filled with a lot more then just a shoot and pass unit. The QB would have a handoff, and pass to multiple wide receivers units, (high pass, medium pass, low pass. this changes speed and how easy it is to intercept). This is where the baseball theme comes into play, with different heights being used so that passes can be thrown over defenders. The defensive players would all have a tackle and an intercept unit. All of the receivers would have a catch unit, along with perhaps a lateral. Offensive linemen would have block units, dropping one would push a unit in a certain direction from where the lineman is at the moment (left, up, right, down... or maybe just back from QB).

There would be 6 players on each team. The QB would be an overlord, with upgraded carrying but not upgraded speed. The wide receivers would be shuttles with upgraded speed, and the defensive 6 players would be dropships with upgraded speed, 2 for each player. The running back and offensive linemen would be ygadzrill or however the hell you spell it. Each player would control 2,3 or 6 units, depending on whether the game is a full house or not. Unit pairings would be as follows:
QB+OL
RB+WR
OL+WR

Having more then 2 units would be challenging, but playable i believe, if the game was not full house. Any ideas or suggestions will be welcomed, and this will stay open until i finish my current 2 projects, which may be about 2-3 weeks or maybe a week. who knows confused.gif

Anyway gimme feedback. The map hasnt been started yet.

You can have the QB "throw the ball" by having him set a rally point from a starport, a as soon has he makes an air unit, give it to a neutral player so its "passing" the ball smile.gif

Hmmm... that could work, but i think that may be too slow even with fast flyers. I wanted to do it as in baseball with the trail of explosions, bigger explosions being more height. Yes tho, your idea would work incase mine does not.

Thanks.

This is a very ambitious project for an average mapper~

Oh i know all the functions of SCXE, i just put average instead of advanced because i don't know jack s*** about starforge. And since this map wont need starforge at all, i should be fine.

dropships with upgraded speed

You speak of the non-existant my friend. Change the dropships with overlords.

Or Shuttles? smile.gif
Overlords are slower than all, and Dropships do get faster after a few seconds on a course heading!

heh true! i don't play melee much =/ dropships cant be upped i guess. Anyway the defenders cant be too slow or the shuttles (WR) will just race by them, defeating the purpose of different units.

This was just a map idea, and while it may be done in the future I'm going to finish my current projects first. All 3 of em =/

Anyone know of speed comparison between speedy overlord and dropship? i think it may be the same.

Also, i have a question: does anyone know how the triggering works to send the ball at different angles, as in baseball and volleyball? it cant simply use different locations, because there are tons of ways that you can hit it in baseball, and only a grid of like 1x3 that you can move around in as the batter.

--This has nothing to do with the topic--
But, xXLordSlippyXx I think some people would find your signature offensive.

I didn't play any of the balling maps, but I can tell you about speed comparison between the Overlord and Dropship.
The dropship would start out slower, but eventually accelerates to a much faster speed. The Overlord has fast acceleration, but his top speed is no match for the Dropship.

You want to know how they did the change direction of the ball? Likely just have a few random triggers go off, and mattering on the results they go to some locations placed just beyond the game at set stops.

IE:
Random Switches set up at the moment of contact, and once done it follows towards that location, made.

Hmmmmm, this still just sounds like dodgeball, just without getting ran over by a ball....oh well

If your going to make it, make sure it's good tongue.gif
