Heres a map with an insane trigger-- it was meant to be put into a 4 player map but I'm not sure it even was. The idea is that your corsair casts disruption web and it sends a bomb to that location, which then explodes. Really odd...

Nothing strange, nor new, just and old trick thats been done for a while.

Perhaps so, but ive never seen it before and i thought it was quite cool.

(U)Bolt_Head made this ~ or something like this ---

ask him if you have any other questions...

If you think this is amazing then you obviously haven't seen bolt's other trigger maps tongue.gif

I actually didn't intend to make it into a real map. I just created the triggers because people discovered how "cool trigger" worked. So i needed to elaborate on it some more.

The main feature is how the interceptors fly along side of your unit. Thats the most complex part of it.

I actually don't spread this map anymore I only played it like 10 times with people.

Ahh... well as a sniper i have news for you -.-

AoD_AngelicWar -- Fleet -- Vague -- And more -- copied this idea into a map of his own, as he stole the sniper map from Twip-, and crash hacks, replay viewers, hacks, and more from the community. Protection doesn't mean anything to this censored.gif , he steals whatever he wants whenever he wants, unprotecting if necessary. As a result, many snipers consider him to be an actual good mapmaker, programmer, and player. I have no doubt of his programming (HACKS!!!!) ability, he supposedly was taught by drakken. This counteracts his ability as a player- Using bwac 1.10 before the newest patch came out, i analysed multiple replays of his and determined that he indeed was using hacks on the "unhackable" map that he made. The next anti-minimap hack that I and es-foreshadow developed together he also stole and incorporated into his map, and i guess he also made a private hack that was effective against this as well. Hes in jail or dead or something now... but i just thought that you would like to know.

What exactly does that story have to do with your trigger map?

LoL that guy is a newb. He can't even steal a map correctly. He took out all the impressive features and dumbed the map up. It sucks so much i would not be surprized if he actually made it. An observer? please thats lame as hell.

This is what happens when newbs try to be cool.

Edit: I realized his map was unprotected so i took a look. Im pretty sure he made the map from scratch. His triggering style is quite differant from mine. He may have borrowed the idea, But he didn't use my triggers.

Heh, take a look at my Trigger Happy D map sometime if you think that is cool. wink.gif

That observer version of the map is hardly as impressive as the interceptors.
I've never tried screwing around with interceptors before, but now I'll keep in mind it's possible.
This is good timing too, just the other day I was thinking how nice it would be if I could use interceptors as a unit on its own.
(U)Bolt_Head did you ever make an interceptor be on it's own and attack and sutff?

And umm... what is the "cool trigger" blink.gif?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by FaZ- on 2004-06-10 at 11:02:35
Yes, thats what happened with sniper maps too. He takes the main ideas and map layout, and then just copied the result by different means. For example, he was using !?switches!? to respawn a sniper when it died. Probably just so he wasn't "copying." Its obvious that he did anyway. He's a completely un-innovative lying pos.

No interceptors can only be controled with AI scripts. There default AI when they leave the carrior is to attack a target then return to the carrior. If you move them else where they will lose sight of there target and return to the carrior.

If you run other AI scripts on them such as Junk Yard dog they no longer try to go back to the carrior but just roam around.

To "order" them i combine two AI's Set Genaric Target and Patrol to upper left corner.

Since there is no AI script to "attack unit at location" then I'm pretty sure you can't order interceptors to attack something. Your welcome to try on your own as much as you want.

Cool Trigger is attached.

That's good to know about the interceptors.

You made it sound like the cool trigger is an actual trigger in the list smile.gif, that's what confused me.

I know how to do that though, I actually wanted to do a tutorial on angulation but there's no need I guess.
You just create a bunch of temporary ground units and remove them. But because you know the order in which they will be removed you can center the 4 locations at the 4 corners smile.gif, not hard. And you can do it for ground units with air units.
Sorry if I wasn't suppose to reveal anything...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by (U)Bolt_Head on 2004-06-10 at 12:32:34
Thats cool, I seen people already write tutorials on it and everything. They call it "Grid systems" or something like that.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Clokr_ on 2004-06-10 at 12:36:17
I call it "Relative movement", because it is that, move a location X squares from another one. So isnt a movement based on absolute X or absolute Y, it is a movement based on ±X or ±Y.

Yeah, we've known about that for a while, Trigger Happy Defence was it used on a large scale, sadly with too many players it gets annoying.

I had looked into trying to make a Counter Strike map, using intoceptors, and having then centred, so if they "hit" someone is would cause things to get interesting, however can only work once, because all dark swarms belong to player 12, so if you make more than one, it will go mad!
