Ok, Im in a jazz band, and as everyone know, piano plays backround and some solos, but, does anyone have any tips on how to play louder and eigth-notes on a fast rock tempo?
A teacher is the best way to learn.
I have one, but she isnt very good at jazz, shes only good at playing classic. (Not that the teacher sucks, its just she lacks technics for jazz).
I'm friends with a jazz composer, although I haven't seen him in a while.

Hit the keys harder
If you want your keys noticed above the rest of the noise, just accent them a little. Although I'm not very familiar with jazz much.
lol
I know to hit the keys harder, but to hit the keys hard VERY FAST is hard for me(my wrist get seem to hit the keys hard and play fast at the same time). Does anyone know any exercises?
You just need to practice. I know for me, whenever I play "loud and fast" my wrists start to burn slightly, but after awhile (of practicing) it went away.
I have one little excersize where i take my fingers and move them in such a way thats hard to explain. Basically point your thumb at your face, with fingers pointing out in a high five fashion. Move your fingers (one at a time), in a motion so that the tips of your fingers are moving in a circle, in the direction so that you have to bend your knuckles, instead of simply twirling your fingers around. Once you get this down to the point where you can do it really fast on either hand, try reversing the direction of the circlular motion.
I actually learned this in order to do some cool dance moves, but it helps me in other areas as well.
I also do things with pens that help my finger deterity, but the stuff I do is even more complicated to explain in text, plus anyone I've ever tried to teach it to, has never gotten it right.
practice is the key.. also.. knowning which kind of jazz you play would help...
because the piano isnt always the background..
atonal minimalism avantgarde jazz has uber piano..
thats not the only example where the piano is predominent in jazz
Huzzah for music forum activity!
Yeah, practice with movement is vital to playing a string instrument (and other instruments). I don't play piano, but I play guitar, bass, drums, and I practice at least one of those three for 8+ hours a week, so by now I've significantly increased fingering/hit speed. Doing scales and chord changes really helps with building speed and endurance.
YEH, HAZZAH FOR PEOPLE THAT ARE CONSTANTLY TALKING ON FORUMS!!!
Well, ill try u guy's tips ang junk, and the part is still pretty hard, the song im playin is 'At the Hop'.
