When making graphics for StarCraft, 3D-programs is best to use. (In my opinion)
So I would recommend Cinema 4D, an easy-to-learn 3D-Program.

PhotoShop, and similiar programs is much better for making textures, web-graphic, etc.

Blender is also a very good 3D graphics program you can get for free. (www.blender.org) But it does have a steep learning curve.
