I shall test you, then rate you, then give you your scores.
This will make an average of how much you will get on your normal tests.
You can improve if you try harder, and you'll probably get a better life.
This is suitable for anybody. Even first graders.
Solve all the problems here.
1. 4x10-(2-40) =
2. 4x + 10 > 2x =
3. Find the area of a ball with an radius of 15.
4. State this inequality. There is a 50 cent pencil, and a 20 cent eraser. You want to buy 12 of them, but in an exact match of $4.50. If the pencils are X, and the erasers Y, find how much quantities you'd buy for each products.
5. Is 37 a prime number or not?
6. What kind of definition does a number Pi fit in Algebra?
7. 4 + 4 / 4 =
8. 4x + 2x . 3 + y . 2x . 2y =
9. How many commas would you put inside a one million?
10. How much "2 by the power of" would you need to make it reach a gigabyte?

-NOTE: This is all logic guys.

Those are too simple. Here something that will put the line between cool and less cool:

What is the volume of f(x)=sin(x) revolved around the y = .5 line on the interval [-5,5]?

o_O, Hmmm, explain the question to me.

Yuck, even I can't do that; stupid axis of rotation is in the curve. Next year...

Make it y=1 and I could do it.

Just to ruin the topic,
1. 78
2. x > -5
3. A ball = A sphere? 14137.167u[sup]3[/sup], or 4500 * pi u[sup]3[/sup]
4. Inequality? 7 pencils, 5 erasers.
5. Yes.
6. Pi is defined as the ratio of circumference to diameter in a circle.
7. 5
8. Huh? Is the '.' trying to be a multiplication sign? 10x + 4xy[sup]2[/sup]
9. 2
10. 2^30 = 1,073,741,824 bytes = 1GB.

DT, come on! Set the equation to sin(x)-.5. Then find the critical points (zeros), and find the volume of each section on the interval.

o_O, Hmmm, explain the question to me.

If you have a line (like y = x), then you revolve it around the x-axis, you form a cone. What's the area of that cone?

Apply that concept with the other equation on a different horizontal line.

How is that wrong?

1. 4x10-(2-40)
78
2. 4x + 10 > 2x =
How can a less than statement equal something?
Unless you want what x is... that's -5.
3. Find the area of a ball with an radius of 15.
225pi
4. State this inequality. There is a 50 cent pencil, and a 20 cent eraser. You want to buy 12 of them, but in an exact match of $4.50. If the pencils are X, and the erasers Y, find how much quantities you'd buy for each products.
State an inequality of what? Hopefully you meant SOLVE this inequality. In that case, you want 7 pencils and 5 erasers.
5. Is 37 a prime number or not?
37 is prime.
6. What kind of definition does a number Pi fit in Algebra?
Nonterminating, nonrepeating decimal. Irrational number.
7. 4 + 4 / 4 =
5
8. 4x + 2x . 3 + y . 2x . 2y =
I'm going to assume ". 3" means ".3".
6.2x + 1.2y + .3
9. How many commas would you put inside a one million?
If you mean the number, two. The word "one million" has no commas.
10. How much "2 by the power of" would you need to make it reach a gigabyte?
2^29

Er, I used the wrong formula on #3. Go with DT's answer, I used the area of a circle instead of a sphere.

DT has it all correct O_o funny how moose lost to DT tongue.gif

Considering I didn't have a calculator (except the windows one, which I'm just too lazy for) and pulled that off in about ten minutes in my head, I'd say I did pretty well. I'm certain DT had a calculator available.

Those questions are a bit too easy, and I'm lazy. They could take a while to solve, though (some). Let's make this a 'post your equation topic' and we solve each others? Everyone knows the answers since it's been answered.

I wonder if even Lithium knows the answer to number 2 considering that a greater than sign cant equal something confused.gif

Nope happy.gif. Windows Calculator ftw!

My answer might be wrong to 3, I did the volume of a sphere but he asked for the "area of a ball" so that would be 900pi u[sup]2[/sup].

I suck at all that fancy math, but I'm fairly good in business.

Riddle me this:
Using the laws of Banker's Interest (I'm not sure if I should say what that means, anyone with a bank account should know), how much interest must be paid on a 7 month, $9,000 loan at 8.625% interest?
