I just finished making a cool mp map for Top Versus Bottom. But every time I test it in Battle.net the start locations are just all wrong and it ends up being top versus middle versus top versus whatever... it confuses me ranting.gif

Anyway how do I get it so just player 1, 3, 5 and 7 start on top while 2, 4, 6 and 8 start on the bottom? helpsmilie.gif

In the Forces box, you uncheck "Random Start Location". Then you place the start locations where you want them.

Ctrl+Shift+F opens it.

Are you talking about Melee or Use Map Settings?

Edit - Sorry.

When you place a start location, thats where people will get their Main building(Command center, hatchery, Nexus). You can't pick where you want it because its random. I would recommend opening up a melee map, study it, then start on your own. It helps out and answers easy questions.

Okay I went through all the maps left and right. In general its a Melee map, 4 on 4 map that I had created it, I made the map to be fully 4 on 4 TOP vs. BOTTOM. When you go into bnet to create a game you end up selecting Top vs Bottom. On other maps it works fine I can get top versus bottoms, but when I start up mine its all messed up and the players start very far away from each other....... I want to be able to have them start TOP vs BOTTOM... mad.gif

When you go to create the game in bnet, do you select Melee or Top vs Bottem?

Uhhhh....

You have to match the forces to the start location.

You have:

Force 1 -
Player 1
Player 3
Player 5
Player 7

Force 2 -
Player 2
Player 4
Player 6
Player 8

On the top you have start locations for

Player 1
Player 2
Player 7
Player 8

On the bottem you have

Player 3
Player 4
Player 5
Player 6

Is that what you want or players 1, 2, 3, 7 on top and 4, 5, 6, 8 on bottem?

EDIT: First I said I didn't know what was wrong, then I remebered, and then bnzzh posted before me... tongue.gif

ok hey. i dont need to know what map or anything to answer your question.

the answer is....its not possible at ALL unless its on ums(user map settings).

why, you may ask is because to make it so that its all fair all around.

in every map on b.net it is all random placements except ums.
even on the top vs bottom: because its top vs bottom on the select screen NOT in-game.

melee, well that would make it random placement everywhere.

your only best bet is to make a shared map and play with random people OR make a non shared map but make it top vs bottom while on the select screen.
