people say goths are just depressed/satanic peeps, but i say that's bull.
heres what i think...

~Goth in its simplest form, is a subculture. A group of people who feel comfortable within each others company. There is no specific thing that defines what you need to do or be to fit into the goth scene (except of course the implied black clothing). People in the goth scene all have different musical tastes, follow different religions, have different occupations, hobbies, and fashion sense.
Most goths become goths because they have been spurned by 'normal' society because the way they want to live their lives does not fit in with how most people are told to live theirs. Goths are free thinkers, people who do not accept the moral rules of society because they're told 'This is just how it is' or 'This is what God says!'. Rather goths tend to listen to what you have to say, and make up their own mind. This kind of free thinking and rejection of dogma earns only rejection in todays society.

However because of this rejection from 'normal' society, goths have banded together to associate with other free thinkers. This has a beneficial effect on both the individual and society as a whole. For the individual they have a sense of belonging, and friends they can associate with. For society it removes one more misfit filled with rage from society's streets.

This of course is not the case for all goths. Many goths today are goths for a variety of other reasons. They like the music, or the clubs are better, they have goth friends and joined in with them, or they just like staying up late nights and goths are the only ones awake to talk to.

gothic is a form of architecture from the middle ages.

although i dont really care about gothic people. there will always be differnt groups of people. as long as they dont bother me i dont mind.

Gothic peopel are just dressed up to get attention...They should just dress up like a nice man or woman, look like a hot girl or a girl's hot guy and get on with life...They should just work at a shop with glamour

I do most of those things, but I don't consider myself a goth, nor would anyone who knows me.

Well hey, I'm a metalhead. I fit all of those criteria. Guess I should make a thread about it using a quotation from some unreferenced egotist moron who obviously doesn't know the difference between idealogy and reality.

i love rock music but goths scare the snot out of me. no offense but... there is this corner at lunch and all the goths sit there. everybody calls it "loser corner" and "emo corner"

Everyone need to understand the phycology of "Goths" they act different because they feel if they are part of a group they feel like they are better than other people in a way, this is similar to the way Hitler dictated efficiently. Basically if one group rejects one person they will go to the other rejects or similar people and then do things to try and make the other groups that rejected them think of them different and in a group. The other possiblility is they just plain enjoy the lifestyle between any other kind of social interaction. My brother is goth so i have first hand knowledge, he's even persauded me by calling my clothes "loser clothes" because he feels superior within his goth rank. The reason people call these people goths is becuase the first people to dress all black were satanic and gothic. By the way you really shouldn't label anyone as any sort of outcast, if you didn't, goths probably wouldn't exist and you would probably would be liked in all social societys.

Goth people just annoy me in school. They wear all black and think they're so hawt. Well, they aren't. Black hair, lipstick, and clothing isn't very attractive. (Talking about the goth girls in my school)

They also try to say they're atheist and everything to try to be rebelious and everything.

I'm atheist, but I'm nowhere NEAR gothic. Probably 99% of my friends are christian/catholic or whatever, and I never told them I was atheist.

True satanism has nothing to do with how you dress or whether or not you sacrifice goats to the sacred wheelbarrow. Satanism is upholding the idea of the individual as their own god.

First of all, I'd like to say that IN MY OPINION, goths are losers. No need to flame me but this how I see them, mainly because they try to get attention by being so "rebellious".

OMG This has happened at my school, I've witnessed so many transformations from normal ppl to like... Green/Blue/Spiked/Bald people (mostly girls) and have black clothes, chains, black eyes, black... lips... uh what else is there... Piercings...

GOD it annoys me. They just messed up their lives... Their one purpose in life is... to show me through example that I DON'T WANT TO Be LIKE THEM!

I think they are the unpopular 0.1 GPA kids who want to fit in somewhere and the only place they can belong is the ass corner...

Reminds me of the generic KoRn fangirl I saw today. Beady eyes, eyeliner, stupid-ass chains on pants, writing on the shoes, those retarded arm socks.

I got nothing against goths that are still in highschool, but when you get near your 20's, and you still got that gothic thing going on, you got some issues. Then again, that's good for you if you're starving for attention.

Just let goths do what they wanna do...I was watching an episode of "Made" on MTV and the girl was a gothic beauty pageant contestant that won for 3 years...So nto all goths are ugly.

My veiws on the gothic culture (and not the architechure or the germanic people from which the name is derrived) are pretty strait forward.
I see them as people who are not rebellious in action but rebellious in thought. I see them as different in appearance, but really they are normal people. I on the other hand am poor, dress in whatever fits, and do things how I want. Not simply privately, but publicly also. Which is one area which I do not see very much action from the goth populace, the one I know are not very public people.

And by rebellious I don't mean original, as many of them have the same ideas, just not the same ones as preppy people.

I want a pair if 'goth pants'. They look cool, but they cost a lot and I don't want to seem like I'm trying to fit into them...
