its not the difference, people have different definations for each
EX: Nerd = a vidio game dude Geek = a school bookworm
EX: Nerd = a school bookworm Geek = A vidio game dude.
they both basically mean the same thing, but they both have different meanings.

Nerd: One whose IQ exceeds his weight.
An 'individual', i.e. a person who does not conform to society's beliefs that all people should follow trends and do what their peers do. Often highly intelligent but socially rejected because of their obesssion with a given subject, usually computers. Unfortunately, nerds seem to have problems breeding, to the detriment of mankind as a whole.
Geek: Not to be confused with Nerd. A geek does not have to be smart, a Geek is someone who is generaly not athletic, and enjoys Video Games; Comic Books; being on the internet, and etc.

Are you implying fat people aren't geeks?

I always thought of nerd as a person who plays video games, collects stuff, maybe smart, maybe good grades, etc. And the geek is the nerd with the 2 inch thick glasses and bad acne.
I prefer being called a nerd. Nerds are tastey candy

IMO Geek is a derogatory term for a nerd. Generally meaning that geeks have no life. I could be wrong though
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kow on 2006-02-28 at 18:28:45
Geek is just better sounding than Nerd, IMO.
Besides, chicks dig the geeks, not the nerds.

That means I am both geek and a nerd... Kinda sad...

I will simply say that I am neither a geek nor a nerd. Whether someone is a geek or someone is a nerd does not matter in today's society.

It's not my defention, and if it was it's not. That's defention of nerd btw, not related to geeks.
Geek is not derogatory, it's used between friends like "Stop being such a Final Fantasy Geek" or "Man i'm a geek". Though nerd is more fun to say, so people say that.

Everyone is a nerd is some way.

If a nerd is somebody who spends almost all of their time doing one particular thing (such as school, grades, computers, etc) then athletes are also considered as nerds. Probably healthier nerds, but still.
