Alright, I need to get all the unique colors in a few sprites, so that I can test something regarding them, but: MSPaint won't. It also refuses to fill over certain colors, for some reason, so I can't use the select-color-check-id-fill-unfill-repeat method. Pixia... I believe it crashed when I tried. GraphicsGale won't open the images. It refuses to open any Psi Storm, Dark Swarm, or a few more images I tried. GIMP... well, I'm not sure why, but I've tried using GIMP before but couldn't. I think it crashed or isn't compatible with Winblows 98 or something. Photoshop/Paintshop are too expensive for me.
So, if anyone can tell me how I can find all the unique colors in a sprite with minimal hassle, well, thanks muchly.

Alright everybody, I know what GIMP is, I've used it, I know that it works on Winblows, I know it's free; I was once stuck with an otherwise completely crappy computer that was running Linux, and I would use GIMP, but I can't for some reason. I don't want to get into any 'Well, what happens, then? Do this then this, now it'll work.' Please, refrain from posting and let this topic die unless you have a suggestion other than the above that could help me with what I'm doing.

what appeared error of GIMP on ur Windows? just couldn't run or crashed in milddle of working?
if ur problem is first, you need to install GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment below download and install this "GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment (version 2.6.10-20050823, for Windows 98 ME and NT4)" [/b][/color] Download mirror url : http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gimp-wi...up.zip?download
and in my opinions, if ur CPU not support Pentium MMX or better it's may AMD old CPU then GIMP maybe would crash i guess but i'm not sure it saying just makes by my experience

Did I not just say that I simply don't want to bother with GIMP at the moment and that I'm not going to go through this crap?

It freezes on Fonts for a long time, but it eventually goes.
You could do what I do and slowly take away palette entries until you only have what is in the image left. That is how I turned an archon's attack green
